She's been moved to a rehabilitation ward for the time being while she works on her memory and motability, but they do think she will be able to make it out in a months time. I'm going up for a visit at the end of the month, and will be on the look out for little games/crafts I can take to help her recover.
I definitely think I'm going to take up running or badminton, I need to get a bit more active. My Mum has 3 sisters; she and two of her sisters have now had serious blood clots, and it's a wake up call to the rest of us!
Sorry to hear that, it can be a very difficult recovery after a stroke. Def get running but go outside, there is no feeling like it when you get to about 5 miles and can do it easily. I miss that feeling of strength, physical and emotional, that I had when I was running about 20 miles a week, I never thought I'd miss running more than wine during pregnancy!! :rotfl: I wish I'd taken it up years agoDMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
spag I always thought there wasn't a problem going running during pregnancy if you ran before you were pregnant - speak to your doctor? It might just mean that you need a bit more support... But I've never been pregnant, so can't comment on whether you would want to and it wouldn't be uncomfortable on your back etc.0

Spag you are allowed to carry on with a sport if you were doing it before you were pregnant. My OH keeps trying to get me to do some kind of exercise, I just laugh at him now. After making me cycle 150 miles round France whilst in my first trimester he hasn't a hope of getting me to do anything until I've given birth. But then with having to run after a small person I doubt he'll be able to get me to do anything after either
I hate exercise.

So sorry to hear about your Aunt minicooper. I think taking some games to play with her is a really nice idea.
Please watch this video for a very inspirational talk from a neurologist who suffered a stroke.

Spagbol, I am about to mess up your figures as the total has gone up a bit but I haven't updated in ages so here goes anyway!
I've just had £570 from my dad to pay off the amount my sister owed to me for an outstanding loan from 2010. I've paid £150 off the OD and £420 toward the CC. I have another £500 sat in savings to be paid off the CC when it gets to the 20th if nothing else crops up.
So...

Yes I was still running properly until about 18 weeks and even now can jog downhill if I walk up it firstbut it's increasingly hard to control my breathing and even worse the action makes me need a wee all the time
It's not the same! I went swimming today and am doing yoga but running (and actually being able to do it!!) is so addictive that I miss it

Oh and I bought an exercise bike on a FB group but it isn't a terribly good one. I'm going to buy D@vina's pre- and post-natal workout DVD soon it is supposed to be good towards the end of pregnancy.
Kerri my advice would be to stay as fit as you can! You may stay nice and petite in pregnancy but I found pregnancy very difficult with DS1 when I got so big I couldn't move and labour was really difficult, both 3rd trimester and labour were much easier with DS2 when I was still massive but much fitter. How about an exercise bike for you if you like cycling but can't be @$£&d to go out and about?DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
Thanks suzitiger that was a really helpful link. The type of stroke was different, but it was useful hearing about how the two sides of the brain function - it made a lot more sense of how my aunt described it to people.
Have had the most stressful week at work, and I'm glad it's the weekend. Over 5 days, I've done over a days worth of overtime, and I've brought another days worth of work home for the weekend. I also have an exam next week that I somehow have to study for... I'm glad I have a bottle of vino in the fridge!0 -
