Thanks for the suggestion spagbol I did try training for the 5k that goes this weekend, but things kept coming up/I kept losing my motivation. I may stop by the running shop at the weekend to see about a new pair of trainers. I am just nothing like fit enough to go running with a group yet!
I bet they will say different, give your local group a ring and ask if they will accept beginners. If you want to start on your own (and I did) just plan out a 2 mile route and run as much as you can then walk and repeat this until the end. Then keep doing that route until you can run the whole lot. It is amazing how you improve, I found it totally addictiveThen plan a 3 mile route and so on. Once you get to 5 or 6 miles you will feel AMAZING and the endorphin rush after about an hour of running is wonderful!
Can you tell I miss it?! :rotfl::rotfl:DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -

I downloaded a podcast to help me train for the race for life. It's called "ease into 5k" and basically it's interval training. You start with a warm up then you run for 60secs, walk for 90secs etc. each session is about 30-40mins long and you gradually over 8weeks build up to running longer and only having short walking breaks. It really helped me when I was running on my own. I got a really good time (for me) in the RFL and I've signed up for a 5k in September and a 10k in November and (I must be mad) I'm actually looking forward to themGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

Yeah I downloaded the C25K one (even bought a second hand iPod to listen to it on, then discovered my phone plays podcasts D'oh!) it was very helpful, but I made it up to week 2, and haven't done any more!0 -
Mum has been again to visit my aunt who had the stroke, and I was hoping to hear she was making a great recovery, but the long term effects are just horrible, and it's a lot more of a battle than I realised. She's been moved to a rehabilitation ward for the time being while she works on her memory and motability, but they do think she will be able to make it out in a months time. I'm going up for a visit at the end of the month, and will be on the look out for little games/crafts I can take to help her recover.
I definitely think I'm going to take up running or badminton, I need to get a bit more active. My Mum has 3 sisters; she and two of her sisters have now had serious blood clots, and it's a wake up call to the rest of us!0
