I just checked the snowball calculator and I would need to pay off £1000 a month to reach my goal this year (this is before interest). This is a bit of a push but it would make such a difference to us. I don't want to overdo the challenges yet so I'll see where I stand at the end of this month and try to manage it! Even if it's less than that it will be much more than I've paid off my debt in a long time.

I haven't checked the snowball thingy for a while, I might do that this evening. I'm sure you'll manage it :)

Well said Jakes-mum. I'm not very eloquent but this is exactly what I would say if I could :T

Can I join too please. I have been lurking around on the past tread getting alot of inspiration but knew I couldn't do anything till now. My debt to clear this year is £7273.
I don't think I will clear it this year, but I am going to have a good try. Also be making a few big payments in the next few days then it will more likely slow down.
    Good luck everyone:p

Welcome fennmad, glad you have found the inspiration to de-lurk. Keep posting and don't worry about the final total yet, any debt paid off is an achievement :j

My snowball calculator says we should be debt free in 23 months so that'll be good for Christmas 2014 :T

I'd like to think we can be DF in June 2014 though!:j

Snowball calculator says I'll be debt free in 22 months :) I'm hoping to get all of the debts EXCEPT the HP done by July!

I *love* the snowball. I have mine saved and update it every month, it's great seeing the totals go down and the "months until you're debt free" total go down.

My DD for the utility arrears has come out today and I have also transferred £2050 to the ISA for paying off the secured loan. £2000 of this is the balance of a PPI payout we got 2 weeks before Christmas and £50 is the amount I had budgeted to spend on my NYE meal which was cancelled.

    #82 £2085/£18064

I am feeling really motivated seeing the figure above to get ebaying and scrape some more PADs out of the current account to hit £2500 paid off by the end of Jan.:D
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

I've done the snowball thing before but only saved it today, I can't believe you can do that to the totals!! I would have loved it all of last year!!

We've got our own little plan in a spreadsheet, fingers crossed it all goes well. We are saving money alongside paying debt just in case something goes wrong e.g. pets or car!
  • So here goes this is the first time I 've taken part in one of these challenges, despite using this site for several years. I'm determined to pay off my debt this year!!
It may be a tricky task as I am also refurbishing my house and having to live at my parents whilst it is done which means on top of the mortgage council tax etc etc I have to pay board!!

so total debt as ofthe 1st of January 2013:

    £14703.03

Think I will do my total paid off once every calender month.

    Wish me luck guys!!!
