Ooooh, could I join in too?!

I have £3,263.38 of debt across 2 credit cards and 2 mobile contracts. All defaulted between 4 1/2 and 5 yrs ago and aren't accumulating interest therefore I pay a very small amount off every month.

I've tried to get full and final settlements of the accounts in the past but no-one was interested. Going to try again in an attempt to get rid of it once and for all!

First Payments of 2013 made (technically it's the payments I delayed from 2012, so cheating a little :p)

    :j #010 £9,367.69/£16,660.26 56.23% :j

    (That a payment of a whopping £2,532.40!! so if I were to take this year's figures only: £2,532.40/£6,799.47 is 37.2%!! ;) )

If it's not too intrusive a question, what proportion of income do you guys pay towards savings/debt? I am working out budgets for next year, and someone said to proportion 1/3 rent, 1/3 savings, 1/3 living, but wondered what others do?

Working on the new years resolutions - budgeting is no1!

About 35-40% of our income AFTER tax, childcare vouchers, pension etc goes on mortgage, about 50% on debt reduction and the rest on "living" but in our case this is bills, food and petrol because we don't spend on much else!

Any bonuses that DH gets go on the debt too although we are going on holiday this year which we paid for with one of his bonuses!:o

Thanks smp1993, helen-pie and jakesmum! I pay just over 1/4 rent, 1/4 living, 1/3 debts and the remaining goes to travel and as a buffer for emergencies, if I have a good month, I have money leftover which goes to debts. I'm trying to work out how to re-proportion it for after, so I don't get back in the hole!

Spagbol (spay bowl according to my autocorrect), I love that you are always writing down budgets too- my mum thinks I'm stressing, but I really find it quite fun (someone give me a slap)!! Also loving the lentil ideas - it sounds like a good way to thicken runny sauce. Try adding a spoonful of curry powder to plain lentil soup - it tastes great, and you combine your two great loves!

Who knew my username would be so amusing from an autocorrect point of view :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Slag oil then spay bowl :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: And slagbol*x thrown in for good measure when I'm crosseyed with hangover

According to the spreadsheet, we have paid off £43,324.09
