Just worked out how much we pay towards our debt repayments each month, and actually, it's not good. It's quite an eye opener when you sit down and work it all out.

    Hello

Could I join you lovely people on the challenge this year?

I have a total of £18,094 to clear this year. This will settle our secured loan, pay a random £209 we owe on our car and some arrears to the electric/gas of approximately 11 payments of £35. I will be saving the money to pay of the secured and HP in our ISAs as it costs so much to make an overpayment in fees and will just keep paying the arrears each month.

I have transferred the balance of our PPI payout from the week before Christmas and the money we would have spent last night but our meal out was cancelled into my ISA and will post the figure when I have been issued with a number.

Happy new year to you all and good luck with your individual targets:)

Could I join please? My target is my CC! I really need to get this paid off this year. It will be tough, I am having a baby in March, so maternity pay will be less than my normal monthly outgoings, but if I am at home I can cook more, use the car less etc.

I want to pay off £4000! from my credit card by the end of 2013. :D

  • Hi, I am new to posting in forums I normally just read coupons ones.
Am I eligible to join this challenge?
I am a student with £1000 overdraft and would quite like it to be paid off by Christmas 2013 and I think the support of a thread would be great :)

    Thanks x

    :)

Will catch up on the thread soon x
  • smp1993 - anyone is eligible to join! Spagbol will add you to the list. Good luck with the challenge!

If it's not too intrusive a question, what proportion of income do you guys pay towards savings/debt? I am working out budgets for next year, and someone said to proportion 1/3 rent, 1/3 savings, 1/3 living, but wondered what others do?

Working on the new years resolutions - budgeting is no1!

I just work out my income, what I need to spend from that and I am going to pay off as much as I can whilst leaving myself a safety net of £100. BUT- I am a student so I don't have a mortgage etc. Same principles though, just ensuring you have a safety net :) x
