  • I've been working away on ebay, a 2nd job on odesk and scrimping on the shopping & money saving any way I can and its finally starting to pay off!:T

We must have been separated at birth!

Ebay, overtime and mega scrimping now adding up to big inroads into the remaining balance.

I started out with £32k owing and did really well until I got to £10k. I then got slack and it went back up to £13k so now making a big effort to get rid this year.

This thread is really keeping me focused, thanks everyone

Mega payment made, bringing my total to:

    no.74 1681 / 7860 21.39%
    Debt Free 🍾 since 6.8.13 £31,997
    Saving for 🎄 🎁 2025 £545/£800 68%
    6 mth 🆘 fund £6k
    Mortgage offset fund £24.7k/£38.4k 64.3%
It turns out the answer to my problems wasn’t at the bottom of this tub of ice-cream, 🍨 but the important thing is that I tried...
  • Roguey, I went backwards as well this month. I just didn't post it, because in my head it's more of a delay than a set-back - I'll update only when I have a fall in the debts, and that'll now take another fortnight.

It's been such a horrendous month here, I knew Feb would be tough but I'd forgotten how tough - and I didn't start my hardcore savings in time to build up the reserve I needed to cover all the annual costs that come out in that month. Next year I will, so it's all to the good. We're all getting better with practice.
MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028
    14 August 2017 - Refinanced: $220,000
    January 2019 $211,580 Current MFD 31 June 2036

Well said! The thing we all need to remember that we are now all getting on top of debts and money so each setback gets smaller as we have a bit of a buffer created by overpayments and savings.

Hopefully by the end setbacks will hardly matter at all. :D

Just rang up and got a balance on my loan (and the interest rate). According to the lovely lady I spoke to roughly £35 from every payment goes on interest. That will make it easier for me to work out how much I pay off the loan every month. So new figures are

Well I'm doing well at overpaying the CC this month, all my little fleabay payments are going on there when they come in. However, because we're using the credit card instead of cash it's making it confusing to know how much my total left to pay is as the balance is going up and down.

It doesn't help that I have no idea where the little calculator is for my internet banking. I think I will have to get a new one. We're waiting until just before the balance is due on the cc on the 20th, then I'll scoop up all remaining funds from my bank account and the joint account and shove them onto the cc. Hopefully this will mean we can shove another £600 onto there. Then on the 26th I'll be able to declare as gain.

Working night shift last night and tonight, can't quite work out what day hours I am meant to put down as I'm sure it counts as overtime in my line of work. Also, need to get to H4lfords to get an indicator bulb fitted, Dad says they do it for free :D but I shall be keeping my beady eye on them as I don't trust them not to wreck my car, heard many a story about dodgy places like them.

  • Just a quick hello - although nothing much to report....

Feel like I've had a spendy weekend, but realistically considering how much went on - didn't do too badly at all....

Saw Argo on Thursday eve with a free cinema ticket I had, Friday was at a party, but only spent a tenner on a taxi, Saturday day was out for a birthday and spent a tenner on lunch and then met up with a girlfriend in the eve and watched another film. She had dinner - I drank a chocolate milkshake. All in, it was about £40 which seems like pretty good value to me!

Have budgeted £200 for the month for extras - going out, toiletries etc and have £85 left until pay-day so will have to rein it in a bit, but that's ok. Nothing major in the diary I don't think.

My aim is to pay £1,000 off of my MBNA balance if I still have it in my account at payday.

Am also try to make £310 this month although after my excitement totally struggled with motivation on the eBay front this weekend. Managed to get 20 items up in the end although a lot of relists. One already has a bid of £20 though - yay!!!
    MBNA - [STRIKE]£2,642.15[/STRIKE] £0
    [STRIKE]HBOS - £245[/STRIKE] £0 HBOS - £5,052 - 6.95% lifetime of the balance and [STRIKE]£1,864.30[/STRIKE] £0 and £3,132.67- 0% 29th October 2013)
