Ah, I see :rotfl: I thought it was just one day. CL tickets are EXPENSIVE! £330 each for the top price category.
  • Spaggy, my darling, I'm not sure how often you update the front page but can I just repost my total from a week ago in case you missed it?

    #119 $6571.23/$8000

I had such a moment on the weekend. I'd tried making homemade laundry detergent, and it was a disaster. Just didn't work at all, not at all. And I had this moment of !!!!!! am I doing, spending my free time trying to save pennies all the time like this, there must be a better way to use my talents and energy. But with two very young children and a part time job, saving money is more effective than trying to make it...I just got sick of it all of a sudden, all the careful boring packed cheese sandwiches and planning carefully just for a coffee out with friends when I already don't really go out, ever (mostly because I can't find the babysitting!), and, ugh. So it was horrible and hot on the weekend again so I said !!!!!! it, we're all going to a shopping centre for the day and I don't care if the kids get an ice cream and we buy overpriced lunches and since I only own one summer top that doesn't come out of a charity shop and/or is stretched or faded I'm going to treat myself.

It felt really good! And now I am back on the straight and narrow. I don't even care that my car rego is about due and will wipe out my whole emergency fund in one go. I WILL do this. Although now it's going to be super tight; payday is another ten days away, and after groceries and petrol I think we have $100 between us. Which doesn't sound too bad, but it just goes...

    (Sorry for the long rant!)

We're exactly the same! :j I need to stop looking at rightmove because it just depresses me!

I'm the same with right move amr. It either depresses me as I think there are all these lovely houses I can't buy yet or motivates me to keep plugging away to get one step closer. Depends how I am feeling about everything else I suppose.

DH had had a message from a friend saying they were off to look at a new house and I said how can they afford it and we cant (I know their situation) and DH told me off for sounding really jealous:o:o

    Hi all,

Just a quick update from me. I’m reading every day but not posting much as I don’t really feel I’ve got much to say.:o
Things are chugging along quite nicelyish. My car broke down, but my dad and brother fixed it for me, and my dad lent me his car for the week too so loads saved there. I still owe them for parts but I don’t know how much so I can’t include that yet.

We are decorating DS’s room so that’s a big expense as it needed some electrical work and re-plastering, but we live in an old house and it’s a bit of a money pit. I had budgeted for some of the costs but we’re way over!

Well done to everyone for their payments & welcome to the new joiners.
Big Congratulations to FritterPrincess too :j:j:j

  • Pay day today!! Paid money into bill account for household outgoings. OH will take care of that now!
Paid some off debts too, £119.96 in total :T. I just imagine how much extra that could be in my pocket each month though

Hope I have worked the % out right and submitted this correctly! Such a newbie :)

    Anyway so updated figure...

:( It's a bit depressing cos I'm sure OH's DMP will be a massive hindrance to the mortgage app. If I can try and keep my credit clean (just close off a few accounts etc) we can go fo a single mortgage but would rather have a joint one else we'll only be able to go for crappy little houses. Unless we get a big deposit saved up I guess!!
  • I sympathise amr and Xspender. I'm focusing on saving for a deposit now, but I know it'll take a few years, and I want it to be months! Xspender - I would be exactly the same if any of my friends got a house just now. I'm desperate to get the money together, and I'm torn between buying soon or buying better... I must stop looking at flats just now, as if my favourites aren't still available in 2 years, I will cry.

On the plus side, when I buy, it's going to be closer to friends and family :)

Spagbol I am joining up if you don't mind ... :)

Yes no problem, sorry about being a bit dim but I really recognise your user name so I thought I must have already added you :rotfl: You are #155 :)
Got my number #153...slightly excited by this :j

I aim to pay at least £400 toward my debt this month...any more is a bonus!

I've also looked into reclaiming PPI so will let you all know how that goes!

This frugal living is actually more exciting than spending like maniac :D. However, I am still slightly unhinged lol

    X

Oh yes I agree but I am a bit unhinged too :D
Hi all, is it ok if I join? I want to pay £5000 off my debt this year. I've been paying since January so will work out what I have already paid and try and add a signature.

I'm hoping that being back at work, time will go quicker... feel like I'm just ticking the days off at the moment until the next thing is paid off. Does anyone else feel like that?

Yes! I have felt like this for years :( but at least now some things are being paid off and I feel like we are getting somewhere not just treading water! :D
