amr547 why not have an account in your name but treat it as a joint account - he pays into it, and could know the pin no etc, but it still keeps your finances separate?

Just signed into another thread I follow, and it's unnerving what some people like to discuss on public forums like this! I doubt any men will be joining up for a while.....

    That's a good idea. I'll have a think ...
  • I've spent the last couple of hours reading through the site and forums so feeling a bit more relaxed about stuff now - I need to remember to sign some forms for a savings account so I can move it away from where it is now - if you can transfer funds to your current account in 30 seconds that's far too tempting when you've had a bad day :o

We don't know what we're doing about a holiday this year either - OH got made redundant in Nov/Dec so money is tight - we've got free accommodation but the flights are extortionate and then we'd need spending money, so instead of a fortnight we're planning on just going for a week which will save on euros and baggage costs - something like £40 which is ridiculous! Well checked with my mum anyway as it's her timeshare we're supposed to be staying in and she said to check flights in a few weeks - and I said well what if the price goes up even more? Well she will cover it apparently so that is good as A) it gives me time to save up some more money so I don't have to take it away from my savings!, B) gives OH time to get a job and C) means that I definitely won't have to pay any extra so I'm quite happy about all that!

In 5 years time I'd like to have finished off my training at work and have got a promotion (ha!), have gone back to the US for a repeat of our honeymoon and have at least one rugrat running around the place and be living in our own home instead of the bizarre house situation we've got going on now :D

Our food budget is driving me NUTS. I was only paid on the 25th and already spent £160 on supermarket runs and cash out the ATM. Doesn't include OH's spend too which I have no idea what it is. Time to knuckle down and get this budget into shape

Also going to set up a transfer from my current account to savings for £210, to make the total going into savings £500 per month ... if it goes automatically then i shouldn't feel the need to spend it!

    Hi everyone,

Both kids decided to give up gymnastics club last week so thats a saving of £36 per month. :j:j I listed DDs leotards on fleaby & they're up to £16 in total already. AND I didn't even buy them - they were hand me downs from friends.:o

I still have a couple of hours to go & so they may go higher!

I have freecycled 4 kids car booster seats this weekend & filled up a bag for the charity shop. DH is stripping the wallpapers from DS's room so we are busy busy here.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekends.

  • Triple choc chip not just that, but along those lines! It wasn't in that forum though, and we did have some men members. Each to their own, but there's a time and a place!

I'm suddenly addicted to selling all my stuff to make a bit of extra cash - just got offered 37p for a 5 DVD boxset, so I'm on the hunt for any recommendations for better sites. Any tips?

Unfortunately I don't think there is much money to be made for second hand dvds as I'm trying to sell a load too. Maybe have a look at completed listings on fleabay? Or playtrade? I think we are just going to have to sell ours at a car boot for a quid each :(

Worked out that I should be able to put £210 in the bank before pay day! Woo. Then will set up my transfer each month...
