Peppapig - Your tree is cute! and your hallway looks awesome, we are hoping to do something similar to ours... less dangley though as our ceilings aren't very high and while fine for me everyone else would be having problems walking through them lol!

can't remember who asked about it but - RE: Hairdye... I have always home dyed mine, so got enlisted by my mum, for past year or so I've been doing hers.
I've yet to notice a difference between different brands, I usually go for superdrug or boots own, or a clairol nice 'n' easy because they are on offer... BUT avoid clairol Perfect 10 it doesnt cover grey! My mum will strictly only dye her hair every couple of months I've been dying to do it since the same day we used perfect 10 :/ my mum only goes grey around her face and perfect 10 barely covered it so annoying!
Someone mentioned john freida I find them fine no better or worse than anything else, but the price :o! they are usually about twice the price and not usually on offer (though I did once get one from the clearance section in tesco 99p ;) woop!).
It is advised that as you get older, and if dying is for grey coverage to go a shade lighter than your natural colour (when it's at its darkest...) it's supposed to be more flattering... I dunno how true that is, but my mums very brunette I'd say light brown matches her colour, we dye it dark blonde ( which makes it sound scary!) but the colour really looks good.
I'm actually dying my hair right now :D I have cling flim round my head.. but I go for henna which means I'll start washing this out in 4 hours it's way too much work! :( but I love the colour I get :)

Haha at the Christmas dinner in a tin! Would have been perfect for my ex, he used to spend Christmas day at home alone, playing games.... I'd have got him one... lol

I have some very sad news... the house I'm house sitting, and cat sitting... they aren't putting up any decorations because they go away on the 17th :o!!

I took the plunge and bought a hair dye now ive got to find the courage to do it myself ! may find my courage at the bottom of the wine bottle:rotfl:

I've been doing my own dye for years now. If I 'slip' when putting it on and end up with patches of the dye on my skin I just use nail varnish remover on cotton wool to get it off.

I've tried the Vaseline tip someone else posted but I can't manage that so I invested in a brush like the hairdressers use (bought it from a pharmacy years back) and re-purposed a bowl that was going to the charity shop to mix the dye in. I find I can achieve a much better result using it but I can still use the bottle method if I just need a quick touch-up-the-roots job. I'm naturally ash blonde and dye my hair a conker-ish red/brown so if I miss a bit I look like a red panda :rotfl:

Christmas wise I'm still working on my window. The paint has gone on almost clear in some places so I'm having to do multiple coats otherwise I'd be done by now :( Now I know for next year not to bother with the small tubes of paint I bought especially for it :(

nicki - I can't wait to see your window!! :D
you can get the brushes and bowls from one of the cheap shops not poundland... but poundstretcher maybe? :/ not sure... that's where mines from though :D also recently invested in a hairdressing cape.. I say invested it was £1.99... not for myself so much I always wear black to do my hair figured you cant dye black, but lil sis has bleach and then pink, blue and purple tips foiling it was so annoying

I'm still having to wait for my hair to cook :( knew I should have just waited till morning :/

Ooh, good tip. Think I might invest in a brush and bowl myself. Maybe a cape too. Doing a haircare hamper for my mum this Christmas so I could add those in too. Where was the cape from, please? Are the brushes sold as hair dye brushes? Might try eBay.

I was warned about using henna when I was last at the hairdressers. Something about tattoos...can't really remember now, but you could find out if it may be relevant to you. I only used it once or twice when I worked at Lush. Lovely result but it takes so long and I made a right mess!

Peppapig, love the Rudolph facepaint :)
Sorry folks I haven't read all the way back, will catch up soon. We've all been full of cold but starting to feel like me again ;)

DS received a letter from Santa today. Our amazing childminder has been chatting to Father Christmas about all her children, even my little boy who rarely goes to her atm. So lovely.
Finally got our tree out the box this evening. I've been cleaning at every opportunity in preparation. We move furniture etc to allow plenty of room. But the stand isn't in the box! Vague memories have returned of DH squashing all the parts back in the box, taping it up.... then noticing the stand behind him. So a search of our garage will take place tomorrow.
First though, DS very excited as we're off to Llangollen Steam Railway for their Santa special. And before bed I showed him the Christmas jumper I got him. He is thrilled that its the "same as Daddy's" (both Primark snowman design) Just hope he sleeps well. He is having nightmares atm poor baby :(

  • Hi Nana I'm good thanks, think I've finally found a bit if Christmas spirit about two months later than usual - still struggling with presents for a few awkward folk but I'm sure inspiration'll bite soon (hopefully) Hope you are well and feeling the joys of Christmas too. Is it a bad thing to admit that I've started planning for 2014 because I saw some bits reduced that I liked?
