I went to the supermarket last night because I needed potatoes and broccoli, and they have a small range of real trees and wreaths made of real tree in at the moment. All of a sudden I caught a Christmassy scent and had to go and investigate it.
So if any of you saw a weirdo sniffing a shelf of wreaths yesterday evening it might have been me0 -
Mrs MP.. We spend the 21st/22nd erecting stuff that needs it and doing stickers.. it is then hidden in the shed.. I have got stuff out of boxes, done stickers and the stuff back in.. I hate stickers!!! so stuff like scooters, prams, bikes etc are ready to use instantly. I'm all for an easy life!
Off to sort Yankees and wrap another couple of boxes of stuff!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi all, it’sbeen lovely reading about all of your festivities and decorations going up,they look lovely! I had the opportunity to put my decorations up on Sunday (DHhas decided to delay the decorating until after Christmas) but I just wasn’tfeeling it. To be fair in the past I have always put my decorations up on thesecond weekend in December so hopefully by next weekend I’ll be raring to go!
I have tosay I’m quite disappointed in myself, I started shopping in January and vowed I’dbe done by the 1st Dec but I still seem to have a few things to doand buy! I have a Christmas dinner party on Friday night that I do for myfriends every year, we usually swap presents but I still have things to buy andI’m not sure when I’m going to get them! I buy selection packs for the kids andI was really hoping that Tesco would have their buy 1 get 2 free offer on, butI haven’t seen it yet. I know they had it in Morrisons but I couldn’t get toone.
Thanks EllieWellie for the heads up on theRadio Times, can’t wait to get a copy! I too love snuggling on the sofa andcircling everything I’d like to watch!0 -
Morning everyone,Evening everyone!
Nicki your window is great, can't believe you drew it all, that must have taken ages.
Riskyb Amazon drone deliveries sound funny, I'm imagining a tiny helicopter hovering outside the door and dropping my parcel hahaha.
Pigpen that's a great idea of getting things out of the awkward boxes in advance. What happens if you have to take something back to the shop though?
Junior J hope you don't get bad. Would it help at all if you just go to A&E anyway, sort of pre-empting it before it can get too bad just in case?
Wuvvies & freespirit get well soon!
Weekend was ALL THE CHRISTMAS. Friday I put the tree up, I've also got tinsel, fairylights and new jingle bells strung on the shelves. Three times I had that flipping tinsel on and off the tree, it wouldn't go right!
Saturday started well when we went in Greggs for an afternoon snack and got the last two Festive Bakes they had. Winter Wonderland was packed, the queue to get in however seemed to move quite quickly so we weren't waiting too long. There were a couple of points inside where it sort of bottlenecked so you were completely stuck in a crowd and couldn't get moved along properly, which was really annoying, but we still had a fab time. Just wandering about looking at all the lights, stalls and things, we all felt really Christmassy and I was getting all excited over everything. Finished the evening in the Bavarian beer hall part having a laugh to some sort of a German pub singer DJ and it was all just so feel-good despite the excessive crowd. I'm a bit worried it's going to be a victim of its own success, it really gets too busy and there's going to come a point where they'll start charging or something, they won't be allowed to have so many people in as it'll get to the point where either people can't get in or it's unsafe.
Sunday was the local Christmas market in the town, also really busy though not quite so bad. I hate pushchairs! The amount of times people ran over my feet with them because they don't bother paying attention to where they're shoving the stupid buggy. Anyway apart from that and the music acts they had on that I didn't like because I think they should just play Christmas songs over a speaker, it was also lovely. I was only there with OH that time so we had a nice snuggly time wandering about looking at everything, getting mulled wine and German sausages and all that. Tried roast chestnuts, hadn't had them before, they were alright but I'll probably not bother getting them again.
So basically I love Christmas events but am less keen on people :rotfl:
Bought some cheese from a stall on Sunday for a present and forgot to ask if it'd keep until Christmas. It's quite hard cheeses and in the fridge, what do you think? Be alright won't it?
Edit - Nice tree! I like that dish of baubles you've done too, I may have to nick the idea and do a vase of baubles and lights or something like that. My big glittery bauble was broken, so that means I'm allowed to buy more decs to replace it
CUPOFCHAI thankyou its still blooming painful;) oh your weekend sounds fab, very christmassy, the dish of baubles just happened as i didnt have any more hooks for tree last year so i have done it againFeistyFidget wrote: »Freespirit I am loving those photos
The sale went okay, just under £300 - but we have been with LOTS of stuff
I purchased all cards from cardfactory yesterday, but was really annoyed as they only had one terrible 'Nan' card - the rest were Nanna, Nanny or Grandma - I then had to go to Clintons and spend a small fortune on a card for nan and dh.
I thought I was being all wise and not taking any orders after the 1st December, turns out that I still have 20 to make before I can start to focus on our Christmas! Not too sure how that happened, but I will be thankful for the extra £130 it brings in as this will pay for all remaining pressies.
Still not too sure what we are going to do with the shop in all honesty. If I had my own way I'd close it now, but we have too much to store and no-where to store itI am really tempted to just put it all on ebay, we will get an eighth of what it is worth, but at least it will be gone.
FEISTY thankyou, oh glad the sale did pick up, it all helps doesnt it, plus your orders. Oh im so sorry you feel that fed up with the shop, you do what you feel is right and dont worry about what others will say my lovelyNaughtySpot wrote: »Gorgeous tree! Todays giveaways are live- do pop in if you have time. :j
1. First one is for a foodies set from Hillfarm oils - including a nutty rapeseed oil, mayonnaise, garlic Mayonnaise and soap. These taste really lush. And the rapeseed oil is healthier than olive oil too

Peppa pig – congrats on the new addition. Lovely xmaspresent.
FF – good luck with decisions – and do only what is best foryou.
PrincessKitty- I have all my presents in a large bag. Not wrappeda single thing yet. I have tons ofwrapping paper, ribbons etc etc. I have an idea how I want it all to look. Butjust have not got round to it yet. Maybe when work winds down in a few weeks I willget round to it. Maybe we can be wrapping up / decorating buddies.
Cup of Chai – I am taking my kiddoes to a local Christmas market this weekend. I am terrified it will be too busy. But I know they would love it.
OMO- where are you????
Spent ages in Gap yesterday but only bought one thing. They have 30% off everything. Their Christmas jumpers are very beautiful. Would you believe it here if I told you I have never ever owned a Christmas jumper?0 -
Have a good time Riskyb, I'm sure your kids will love it.
I've never had a Christmas jumper either, but my mum recently suggested we all get one and wear them this year. I pointed out that between the heating being whacked right up for the elderly relatives coming round, and the cooker going full blast, it gets faaaar too hot in the house to wear a woolly jumper. She said we'll have to get Christmas t-shirts then!0 -
Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy Stompees slippers? My kids have asked for them and I didn't want to get them as they seemed really expensive, but thought I'd check incase there was cheaper out there x:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

Argos has them for £14.99 - not sure what they usually cost, so don't know if that is considered cheap or not
