  • Morning everyone,
Good start to the week went out to freezer to check up on whats in there and tried to reach to bottom and have pulled something in my neck it blooming hurts so have got a hot lavender pillow on it at the moment, that can join my back, leg and knee pain, i think i might as well shoot myself :rotfl:im nearly ready for the knackers yard :rotfl:

I got all the decs out yesterday (except the tree) and had a good look at what we have. DD and I have agreed that this year we'll just have the chocolate advent calender each and the advent candle, the other advent calenders can stay away.
First job of the year is always decorating my window. I've found a theme I like and I spent 5 hours on it yesterday, I'll be spending another 3 or more on it today work permitting. I can only work on it during daylight hours so juggle my work (bonus of being self employed and working from home) and do it of an evening instead. ;)
This is last years one and I'm doing similar this year (sorry if its big, I can't adjust the size):

Rest of the decorations will go up slowly over the next 2 weeks as I'm due a delivery for work and it always takes over the entire room for a day or so while it gets sorted out. I can only just cope with that happening, never mind including my decorations as well. Roll on the 13th when I can get everything out properly :D

NICKI that looks absolutely fab, you clever thing :)
    Morning all,
I've finally wrapped all my presents, well the ones that i have here, just ordered a few and will do the rest of it with my bloke tonight, written my cards, posted the ones that needed posting and ordered my christmas food shop.
The trees are up (i can't work out how to upload photos?!) everything i need to do is done...i can now rest, well with the stuff at home i can...lots of church commitments now and lots of school plays etc and yummy meals out.
My DD is off school now with a tummy bug...typical, it's doing the rounds and i've not slept in 3 days dealing with dd being upset all night :(:( hoping she will feel better so she can go to school tomoz, looks like she's going to miss brownies as well :(

going to pop and read all the posts i've missed...
OMO I am so cross with your family and feel so sad for dd, families are carp most of the time...mine is equally as dysfunctional, i'm the mom to my folks-always bailing them out with money, and dealing with their relationship woes...i've been mum since they split up when i was 11, it's horrid and tbh i distance myself as much as i can.
Hugs to all that need it...Not long til Christmas now!!! YAY! xxxx

FEVERTOTELL hope DD feels better soon, how rotten for her x

Right i really must get on, have just been faffing with little jobs that dont show you have done anything

    another box wrapped.. Moomins done!

Dots box next.. it requires a LOT of de-boxing.. for the littlies I cut tie wraps and remove as much packaging as I can .. on Christmas morning they open and want to play rather than wait 20 minutes for you to cut each item from the packaging by which time you have another 25 things waiting to be deboxed. It also has the advantage of making the cheaper huge toys look less disproportionate next to the expensive mini gadgets the older ones get! I can also get rid of the packaging before Christmas and my bins are bursting.

I don't know why I remembered these today cos they're quite old but I thought I would post them as they are really funny (and slightly mean lol) - the kids reactions are brilliant

Thanks for the compliments. I loved doing it last year and loads of people started smiling as they went past and saw it so I thought I'd do it again this year.
That's amazing! Is it done with stickers or have you drawn it? Fabulous :xmastree: :santa2:
I used pictures from the internet/daughters colouring books as stencils but there isn't one sticker on there. I used liquid chalk (like what pubs use) but it cost me a fortune and I was really limited with colours. It also took me nearly a week since I could only do it during daylight. This year I've opted for poster paint & accepting the fact that when I come to clean it off it's going to take me a while :rotfl: I've also changed the pictures that I've used except for the Merry Christmas which I've just shrunk a little.

I've spent about 8 hours on this years so far. I have icicles, 2 snowmen mostly done, and everything else is outlined with the letters & baubles detailed. Next job, once the paint is dry, is to start putting in detail on the bunch of mistletoe, reindeer and sleigh. I'm expecting that to take me a good 2 hours or so but I need a bath as I have work at 3pm so that takes priority over the window.

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

I hate stuff like that.. I don't understand why any parent who loves their children would be so nasty and deliberately make them that upset.. sometimes I'd love to fill their stockings with coal but I don't because it would be damaging to their self esteem and self worth.. have you not seen the episode of Peppa Pig when Santa misses Peppas present in the bottom of his sack??? My littlies are distraught at that and they don't even remember Christmas from last year!

Anyway.. back to my wrapping of lovely (noisy!!!) things now!
