Nic the big family Christmas was always my turn, usually 13-15 of us, but5 were nibs, so with all the presents and trying out the new games, bikes, roller skates etc (adults, that is, not nibs) everyone was too full of happy to care what a disaster I made of the dinner. Now there are usually 8 of us,(3 nibs) and its enough to cope with!
Everyone you are making me hone my stag-spotting skills, even tho. I'd never really considered them, now l think where they would look good.
Everyone Baileys-yumm yumm I have learned my lesson re. easy to drink-a-lot-of-that, and reckon that OMO got off lightly with no hangover.
Pinksteps, what a lovely tidy craft cupboard, all organised and logical. In my minds eye, so is mine, but one day I will photograph it , in all its chaotic glory, and the myth will explode. I may need Ruth-honeys boxes.
Nana so glad the living room is finished, want piccys please, and one of the cake, ooo you are a clever thing, what is the next project? time for Nanamia, I hope!
Had a nice day with fave cous on Thursday, we went to Ennerdale and sat at Bowness point then had coffee (flask) and a stroll round the edge then we went for retail therapy.
Yes, yesterday was the makeover day, but it didn't......exactly......go to plan, it sort of growed, like Topsy. The wardrobe unit friend had ordered arrived, so 'flatpack Steve' was roped in to build it, and as we had no room to work in the bedroom, we painted her living room. Just the walls, and will put a second coat on today and do the bedroom, we aren't interfering, truly, she said she wanted to paint the living room whisper cream, and the bedroom in pearl grey, so we are just doing that.. She has had such a rough year, trying to set up her own business, and then a bad 'man' experience, and she is such a love, we just wanted to do something nice for her.
Will also see DGS other Grandma (grandma sisters DGS calls us)today for coffee and kindle downloading/uploading? before our wrinklie jolly next week.
Glad you had a good day at Ennerdale, glad your friends makeover is going wellmsgigglewick wrote: »fiesty love it!!! im in full festive mode atm.

Waiting for Skype with the china branch then will go back to friends house and paint some walls, she's away for another 3 days so that's plenty time. I need coffee then I will be invincible ha!0 -
Hey everyone!
Hope you are all okay and have been having a good few days. I've skimmed over the last few pages but can definitely now see why some people make notes - my mind has gone completely blank!
I finally found a paper that I like. It is not exactly what I was looking for but close enough, so I'm happy on that front. I had glossed over it on the website but really liked it when I went into the shop.Having a slight hamper crisis, as now everything is here - including the slippers for his big feet lol - it doesn't seem to want to fit in the box. I will play around with it a little and see if I can make them fit but I am not holding out much hope. It means I am back to the drawing board on the presentation of it but at least there are still two months to go - no rush.
On a non-Chrismassy note, I popped out with some friends last night and nursed a small diet coke. I was a little bit annoyed when quite a few of them passed remark about it - as if they didn't know that I am unemployed and have been now for three weeks. It didn't help that one told us all about her £4k pay rise, another about the holiday to Japan he had just booked and the third about her skiing trip now booked for January. I felt like Little Miss Unemployed - along with Little Miss Broke... As bad as it might seem, I might avoid such meet ups until something turns up job wise - one of the many, many applications I've sent off surely have to come good soon?0 -
Sarah Millican was amazing, so funny really cheered me up:)
Definately if you like her and havent got tickets buy her homebird dvd when it comes out
crowdpleaser where abouts in Devon are you coming too, if near me I can recommend a few christmas orientated places for you to peruse
Ds 1 Christmas stuff is sorted as he wants to learn to scuba dive so he can join me and his dad, so one bsac membership and part scuba kit to be ordered.
Anyone who has star wars fans I can really recommend the star wars thumb doodle s book from Amazon its brilliant!
Glad to see the forum is stag mad still. My plans for the lounge have changed again and woodburner being fitted has been delayed as my friend who is fitting it has the flu! Will of course let him off as its mates rates and he is really rough.
We have decided on the fake tree finally and will purchase a few new decs but will wait until decision made on lounge decoration.
Going to move all the kayaks and tie them down and put away all the garden furniture in preperation for the storm just in case its as bad as they say its going to be!
Catch you all later

Geocaching is the modern version of letterboxing using a gps tool, like a smart phine and a geocahing app. Great fun and usually free:)'we don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing'0 -
Aliaslotte - I really do feel for you hunny. I got made redundant in January, and very suddenly my household was £800 a month down! We are a stubborn breed, and I refused to sign on, or claim anything, yes, stubborn and stupid! Instead I focused on building my own business (putting my tiny redundacy pay out to good use).
For a good 6-7 months things were so tight that neither of us went out, we did try as you, nursing one drink, but like yourself, others seemed oblivious to our situation, and happily chatted about their holidays, new clothes etc. At one point we didnt even have enough food to last, so for 2 days our dd's,and dh and I lived on bread and beans! That is a low point in my life, I hope never to relive.
It is only the past 2 months that my little business has started to generate a bit of profit, I'm still not earning what I was working full time, but its bringing in enough to feed and clothe us, we even managed a really cheap break at Butlins earlier this month, and we have now started to go out as a couple again - just once a month!
Sorry to rattle on, but I wanted to let you see that things will get better!
:grouphug:It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Good morning. Lovely blue sky here at the moment. Ds has just left for football, and dd stayed at a friends so I am her alone drinking a coffee.
Ds is going to help me move a few things in the garden when he gets back.
If the winds do come it will be interesting to see if next doors new build stays up. The pathway down the side of the houses is like a tunnel. The wind is always stronger down it than at either end.
I have taken a pic of my new lamp and stag. The stag will re moved when I get the acrylic one but I know some of you like to be kept up to date.
When I was reading the reviews on the acrylic stag, one said now nice it looked on her mirrored unit. Well mirrored units are a little out of my price range. But I did remember buying some mirrors in The Range on the summer because they reminded me of port-holes. They were £2.99 for 3.(I bought 9). Well I took the mirrors out of the frames and put them under some lights and ornaments.
Not quite the same as having a whole mirrored top but when the light is on is makes a nice reflection.0 -
