Cherry24 I bought that 100 piece wrapping/box set from QVC as well!
looks amazing
I got all the M&S gift wrap and tags in the sales last year as well - especially love the brown kraft paper with red foil santa's sleigh print.
Mrs moneypenny the stocking is fantastic!
did make me smile over the Christmas scrooge thing, sooooo many people stopping and looking at the Christmas stuff in the supermarkets when ive been there and then complaing about why its out so early ... well firstly nobody is forcing you to stop and look at it!! and secondly - if you dont like it dont buy it yet!!some people just love to have something to moan about dont they!
I went into town this morning as its my day off, and discovered they have opened a £land!! its apparantly been there a couple of months but Ive not been in for ages - so got some bits and peices including a lovely Rachel Hale kitten money box for DD's stocking and some Wonka Nerds which are 4.99 a box in Selfridges American sweetie department!
Picked up the Boots and M&S gift guides, guy in the food dept was telling me they have loads of new party foods coming in this year, better defrost that freezer then! I saw the snowglobe biscuit tin which I wasnt so impressed with and I felt the Music Box tree was nicer last year (Jingle Bells sounds like its in a very wierd key, unless the one I wound up wasnt working lol!) but they did have the 4 seasons biscuit tin half price at £5 which is very pretty, love the winter scene even thought then only good thing about winter for me is Christmas!
popped into the Mr T local for Cadbury coins - didnt have any there but they did have white malteser large bags for £1 on special promom thing, as they are my DS's favourite I grabbed a couple of bags for CE hamper for him.
This will be my first Christmas working in retail, find its soooo busy on Sundays in particular from the second we open to the second we close, will be interested to see just how much busier it can get on Dec 22nd!! will be working 23rd as well but off 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, Im on counters so serving and keeping everything tidy, clean and stocked up is going to be fun!am quite looking forward to it ...remind me I said that wont you??

Last year, I found some lovely high quality paper that was black with silver baubles. It dressed up quite nicely with silver ribbon and little chocolate coins. But, I cannot find anything like it this time around. I've searched the collections at M&S, BHS, Hallmark, the supermarkets etc etc.
The other type of paper I used last year was kraft paper with a santa pattern - similar to the black paper, there doesn't seem to be so many kraft paper options either.
Not the best image, but you can see the black and silver paper:
Have you started thinking about paper yet? Have you found any you particularly like?
Sorry if this has already been mentioned - I haven't had a chance to read through all the posts yet but I think Wilko's have a nice selection of wrapping paper this year. Some of them are quite long rolls too which will last ages and a couple of the designs are kraft ones.Sealed Pot Challenge Member no. 048

Aw so nice of them to have a moan and include pictures: So its off to town to get my xmas jumper from primark, a quick sarnie from boots, then back to morrisons for selection packs, and tesco for mince pies!
Saves me some site comparrison time lol!
I must admit though, I am really really pleased that I am now longer working in retail, and hopefully never again will i have to endure "the week before christmas" mad rush of stroppy customers and scrooges! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

Thanks I'm going to a big poundland on 1st Nov so hoping that i'll find some nerds for movie hamper.
I found cadburys coins in poundland on Tuesday and got some for my dd's stocking.
I worked at Boots opticians within a large Boots store a few years back and we were normal work load to quiet at Christmas but it was rather amusing watching everyone go around the main store looking like headless chickens, glad I didn't work for main store though!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
I'm back- been AWOL for a week or so (just popping on and lurking a few times). I have only read back 10 or so pages so not really up to speed with whats been going on but knowing you lot there has been lots of laughs and tears shared xx. Hugs to anyone who needs them.
Had a busy week- has not one but TWO hearing aids fitted (thought I was only supposed to have one but hey ho- in for a penny on for a pound!:rotfl:) And FINALLY got my bum into gear and joined a SW group- have done OK so far but don't want to tempt fate.
On the Christmas front I have ordered The Night Before Christmas from Amazon for Mom as her copy is nearly 30 years old and is falling apart. Its tradition to place it under the tree in her house from back to when we were young. I also brought 2 red felt chefs hats with Christmas Cook on front for DH and DS for silly gifts on Christmas morning when they take over the kitchen- competing to see who can carve/cut/chop and generally cause as much mess in the kitchen best!
We are off to Bicester Village tomorrow- DD wants to buy her bf a Ralph Lauren shirt for Christmas! DS went a few weeks ago and brought his gf a Michael Korrs handbag (reduced from £379 to £225:eek::eek::eek:). Now DD has the scent of a bargain she wants to go for a mooch-but she HAS been very MSE and found a 20% discount voucher on the village website:T.
Hope everyone is well- I look forward to catching up next week (probably 20 odd pages knowing you lot:rotfl:)lovin' this site!

Well I was up and running x went back to school full time sept x last week they did an unannounced book trawl for year 3 and 4 only. Surfice to say had major panic attack and feel like back at square 1 x if I'd had my tablets they would have been calling an ambulance to school x been to my mum's she phoned doc and we called union x brain everywhere x not sure if going off sick again fight it or resign and go supply x0 -

My first real job was at Waitrose ooh 16 years ago now. I worked on the meat counter and Chritmas was absolutely mental! Actullay I quite enjoyed it as the customers were generally in an OK mood. Xmas eve was a bit worse because the panic buyers were in wondering if they could really serve a packet of bacon and sausages to guests as we were out of all joints LOL!0 -
Hello everyone! I've managed to win OH a present on Ebay today, please everyone cross everything for me that it arrives soon and is all ok and works! And that he doesn't try to get himself one in the meantime, he's a sod for that, I had a right job subtly convincing him not to buy a DVD one year because I'd already got him it!
Please also cross your fingers that the other thing I've ordered all goes ok, I didn't realise at the time I bought it but it seems like it's being shipped from America, so it's taking AGES to get here and I'm really worried now in case I get slapped with a huge customs charge. I just want to have it so I can see if it's ok and stop worrying about all this!0 -
Not sure if store specific but in Tesco Extra, Clifton Moor last night and they had a lot of craft materials reduced to 40p.
Its their in house Go Create brand including:-
6 tissue paper rolls (festive red, green and also blue, yellow and Halloween orange and black) 40p
6 crepe paper rolls also 40p - same colours.
Can be used to wrap or use scrunched up or shredded for parcel packing.
Edit - or can use with little uns for Xmas projects....
I've tried to find link but products no longer on website so looks like its instore clearance of items with old logo on. Also got Go create white paper roll - similar to link (but 5m not 10m) for 40p.
http://www.tesco.com/direct/white-paper-roll/454-9269.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=454-9269
Looks like go create brand now has coloured handprints on but old labels are mainly red splodges with go create emblazoned.
