Ruth_honey wrote: »Oh, stuff like this annoys me! People complain every year, but in September there were plenty of people buying the Christmas jumpers in Primark or purchasing mince pies because they like them and they're not sold all year round like some foods.
And as for Oxford street Christmas lights going up, they get switched on November 12th this year. They must take a while to get up, then if anything isn't working, they will need time to fix it, so they NEED to be put up a few weeks before. It attracts a LOT of visitors to London, which obviously brings in money, so what's wrong with them going up 6 weeks before the big day??? Yes, some people don't like Christmas (weird!) but you can't avoid it everywhere-unless you stay at home and don't watch any tv with adverts in! Stop being a big Scrooge, have a glass of mulled wine and stuff your face with a ton of mince pies!!! :rotfl: Rant over...lol!
:rotfl: Feeling better now ? :rotfl:
Just spoke to my cousin and she said she has had enough of Christmas and is going back to our roots. Being Jewish ! :rotfl:
She wants ds to join her as he is the most Jewish person she knows. And he is. He talks in questions and uses his hands a lot. :rotfl:
I told her I love Christmas and she said I just love re-decorating and shopping and that Christmas is just an excuse. :rotfl:0 -

Yes. I know the people who moan about it are the ones rushing around the Saturday before Christmas (anyone who has worked in retail knows this and Christmas eve are THE DAYS FROM HELL to be working!), stressed out and spending a fortune on rubbish because they haven't prepared like us. We'll be snuggled up indoors watching Christmas films, drinking hot chocolate and gazing at our mountain of lovingly wrapped gifts under our gorgeous tree that cost us far less than it should have because we're organised little elves! :xmastree:

Well I didn't keep up with this thread this year as hoped but hope you don't mind if I keep popping on when I can. This time last year I was going thro chemo and radio and had a very laid back Xmas. But joined in with the elf shennigins - done on my own til I discovered this site - so the elf cards went down very well. Hope to be more organised this year but tamoxifen making me tired. Will be very cheap this year again - redundancy money almost run out so will address in new year.
Just wanted to say I was in Boots in Leeds yesterday and saw some half price jewellery stands. On it I found an attractive diamonte initial necklace which I thought would make a good stocking stuffer for any 8-16 year old girl. So brought for my DD who is 9. Was £5 reduced to £2. I went through self service - so be careful if you buy them as it went through at £3 not £2 but SA put it right when I explained - so do check as you pay on this item. But looks very nice for the money. HTHS0 -
Morning, I'm still on my holibags at the caravan. We have had a lovely time, the weather has been great.
I'm having a mini panic over Christmas. I seem to run out of money every week and only have a few small things for the kids.
I am still trying to find a pt job. I applied for 6 over 2 weeks ago and never heard a peep. I applied for a few more last week, so fingers crossed.
But I am enjoying reading about everyone starting to make the werthers vodka and food for the freezer, it means it's getting close :T
I am skint every year, and always manage. But always have a panic too. X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
pixtotts - That's a good point. If I have no need for extras, I could just eat / drink them myself
mrs-moneypenny - Your stocking is absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could produce something to that standard.
Regarding Christmas wrapping. I have bought gift box sets from qvc this year instead. I'm going to buy some shredded paper for the inside and bows / ribbon for outside.0 -
Hi Guys:santa2:
Thanks for that Nanamia, it made me smile but also made me look carefully at each picture to see if I could see any bargains. Also got very excited about the festive bleach and washing up liquid, my DH thinks I am slightly obsessed with bleach as have bottles of the stuff in various locations around the house so the thought of Festive Bleach has just made my day x
OMO love the stag cushions.
Well have made a start on the actual proper present buying, DH came home from work last night (now lets keep in mind that DH normally will not even discuss Xmas until half way though Dec ) and stated that he thinks we should have been buying bits for Xmas by now or otherwise we will be running around like headless chickens in December.
I just stared, astonished, and asked what he thought the various bags and boxes stashed around the cupboards and boot of the car contained, about all the things I "pick up" throughout the year including a large number of books on crime and the !!!!! (my dad loves a good crime read, DH had obviously assumed that I was researching how to become a Crime Lord)- he then simply stated "have you started already" - God love him.
Anyway, by bedtime the girls had written suggestions for Xmas list and I then trawled around for the best bargains, DH then paid :T So approx half of it done.

When I needed shredded paper, I bought a paper shredder and shredded cheaper christmas paper, for me it worked out cheaper than buying it ready shreddedSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0
