I am, I tell you just 4 mths ago, I thought that he was going to get nowhere, not through the want of trying but the school just didn't get him and allowed him to be picked on for his speech immaturity and he very much carried around a feeling of being stupid and thick becaude although he understood everything ( apart from instructions with more than 2 steps) he couldn't read and write basically.
The change in him is amazing, I have actually had an article on him published in an international early years publication this month to raise awareness of the condition.
We worried about moving him away from his friends but its the best thing we have ever done, and he still sees his friends out of school, when we read the report from his old school at his new school I was shocked. The new head called me in for a meeting because they didn't recognise the child in front of them to the child they had recieved the report on! I could go on, but I won't :T

Well done , its such a huge relief when you find a suitable placement isnt it .

DD has been at 3 different schools that haven't helped her and her disastrous short college placement but this new college literally on our door step has turned out to be the best .

Does that mean no more dance ? How is he taking it ?

I'm glad you got to the craft bank and the whole day wasn't a downer.

Well the consultant was lovely but was a tad flippant and said DS would have to take up ballet, DS just turned and said remember you said that. I was  but caught the consultants eye and we both seemed to see how determined DS is and stay positive I guess.

DS would normally never say boo to a goose

well I did the jam - 40 mins it took to set, standing over it I was boiling and testing etc. then I was back in half an hour later, putting it in jars (7 large), then I was back in an hour after that putting lids on. worn out today, headache and all passion spent.

the kitchens a right mess :(

I need to get in my loft today. I have quite a lot of winter stuff in there and also my wrapping paper. don't fancy it.

off to morrisons later because there is one near where my son has his percussion lesson. so I while away an hour roaming and picking up stuff. i can't think about what to eat for evening meal as me and ds are always starving once we get in and don't want sandwiches. last week i got a hot chicken and French bread, but it didn't go down well with ds.

talking of ds, he saw me on the forum last night and saw my forum name. he said i ought to explain it as people would think i was crazy. i said they probably already knew i was crazy, by now.

anyway, i have 4 cats, one of them is female and all black. she is named willow. we are really close and i talk to her and tell her how lovely she is and she chitter chatters back to me. so one day i said she was fluffy and lovely and kept telling her because i could tell she liked it and the fluffy and lovely got merged into one word - flowfy. so now we all call her flowfy and have for about 2 years. although her name at the vets etc is willow. so, that's how i got the name flowfy. i called myself after my cat. :rotfl:

I managed to pick up candy canes in Iceland yesterday for a quid for a box of 12. I also added another £10 to my bonus card to buy Christmas food so that's £30 tesco vouchers & £20 iceland bonus card fund so far.

And as I am in holiday mode & wont be buying anything for the next 3 weeks I've put £60 away to contribute to gift buying when I am back from hols at the start of November.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Thank you for this, it's really reassuring to hear from someone who knows all about it and great to know that your daughter is doing so well! I don't know any diabetics (T1 or T2) so it can be quite isolating and difficult for people to understand! I know people mean well when they skip me when they're offering around biscuits or any other nice little treats but there are only so many times you can say 'I can eat almost anything as long as I inject for it!'

Thankfully I'm more than happy with the 'everything in moderation' rule, even in the middle of all the festive excess :)
Snap am a diabetic as well t2 some time it can pain in the bum :xmassign:

Can i just say well done to those with wonderfully determined children that are striving to succeed. I am way more impressed with someone who doesnt find something easy but soldiers on regardlessly and puts huge effort in. Theirs perhaps might not be the top results but i do so admire them for deciding to give it their best.
This goes for adults as well, sometimes people give up rather than try and they could be missing out on wonderful opputinities.

Chocymousse- it cant have been an easy decision to move him, I'm glad he is still able to meet up with his old friends and hopefully he will make new ones too. I agree with mrs Moneypenny, sometimes the harder the struggle the better and more rewarding the results. Well done to the staff at his new school for coaxing his potential out.

Flowfy- love the explanation of your user name! My cat is a 'talker' too- usually screaming for Dreamies!

Pinksteps- I admire your sons determination- shows true grit that he spoke out to the Consultant like that. Fingers crossed that he will be able to take the shoes off to dance eventually.

Freespirit- you have taught your DS well 'grasshopper'- its horrible when the kids are right about something and put us in our places isn't it? Bloomin know it alls:rotfl:
    lovin' this site!

  • Morning :)

Just popped into Morrisons for the 2 for £7 chocs, 1 for a xmas prez and the other for hubby. Unfortunately I am Lactose intolerant!!. Noticed they had mini jams in Morrisons 29p each or 4 for £1. these are the same brand as the gift sets they are selling in Boots (8 for £8!!), Lakeland and John Lewis. So cheaper to make up yourself if interested for hampers/preserve lovers (like me :-))
