ds's show went well. he played a solo - the gael from last of the mohicans. everyone was stunned that he plays with an adult ensemble and is one of the star soloists as it is obvious he is still young. he got a standing ovation and lots of people asked to see him at the interval and after the show. so the constant lessons and running him here there and everywhere are paying off. hehe.

I tried the Tesco 3 bird roast today. I didn't tell dh and ds, because ds easily gets put off stuff then refuses to eat it and dh has been calling them a 'cockatrice' and refusing to eat them, but I wanted to try one. so I just served it up with roast potato's etc. anyway we all are complete converts now. the only thing is...there is no way that serves 8. it is a good job dd is at uni because there wouldn't have been enough for a grown man and a growing teenager!!!!!

Ooo tempted by the Kirstie book, is it any good? Also there are a couple of others on there for £4.99 by Catherine Woram
and one called Toddler Christmas for £3.99 with good reviews. Very tempted ;) Bought a Christmas magazine last year which advertised itself as having things to do and make and in reality it was just "buy this from next and this from tesco to make a Winter wonderland display". Lovely pics but not really what I'd call making my own. We got married just before Christmas last year and I made wooden favours- hanging decorations in the shape of doves or bells. Bought the shapes from a seller on ebay. Spray painted then decorated with paints and little silver bells. Was quite proud of them and they were all different. Hope to see some on family and friend's Christmas trees this year :) Would like to do some crafts with DS's help this year. Got a few ideas in my head but since he's only two and we'll have a newborn soon I must not bite off more than I can chew ;)
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.

Managed to walk in to town and on the way I saw a lady walking home with 2 bags full of Christmas wrap - did make me smile :D
Got a pair of snuggly sock in b00ts for my cousin and used my points which was great - that's her presents all done now - yay! Also ordered my niece her prezzies as they had come down in price on Amaz0n. Once they arrive that's her done now too.
Can't wait to wrap stuff up but MUST leave it till nearer the time or I then get disappointed when it's really festive in December and I've already done my wrapping!

  • Evening all :) just been trying to catch up! Hugs to those who need them. Hope everyone is ok Xx

Not much xmas related stuff to report. Found out I should be able to have Xmas eve off work if I agree to work New Year's Eve instead (no contest obviously!) so I'm pleased about that. Got some pjs for DS2 and a onesie for DH from tesco with 20% off to go in Xmas eve hamper. Been shopping to Liverpool today, didn't get much as had DH and kids with me but was nice day out. Had a few parcels delivered yesterday with bits for the kids so they are nearly done now. Just hope they don't change their minds before Xmas!

Decided against photo calendars and have gone for photo collage posters instead, these have been ordered so that was one of my tasks done! Still haven't completed my list of what I'm getting everyone although I do have ideas for most which is better than I did last week lol.

My tasks for this week are to investigate the cards/wrapping paper situation in the loft and buy as necessary
To finish getting the bits for the 4 stockings
To finalise what I'm getting everyone else

Will go back and have another read now....

I've decided to do all the wrapping early apart from DHs - this way I can still feel really festive, but without the stress of mountains of presents ;)

  • I am not sure if I am mistaken, but I couldn't see Yorkshire puddings on the Christmas food list? They are an absolute must in our house, and I have already had a request for them, as well as sausages in bacon for this year - but twice as many as I made last year!
I was very disappointed last night. I had read so many posts from you all and your purchases, that I went to ASDA with a loooong list, but couldn't find anything remotely Christmassy. It was all still back to school.
I did find Tia Maria (my favourite Christmas treat!) at £15 for 1 litre, rather than £21 everywhere else!

    Xmas Saver!
Why I didn't throw those magazines away when I did the big declutter God only knows.

I don't care how Sue Pollard spends Christmas.

Or what £600 cocktail dress is best for my shape.
Or how to do my hair ( it cropped)
    Or what lipstick to wear.
Or how to cook meals with 30000 calories in them.
Or how to lose the weight the 30000 calorie meal made me put on.

And I really don't want to see an decorated lounge, then turn the page ( to get the look) only for it to say Sofa- John Lewis £2,500.
So I have to have that sofa to get that Christmas look

And who buys the Christmas gifts they suggest ?
£85 for a child's blackboard shaped like a laptop.

Ok rant over. Magazines in recycling. Clear cupboard. Coffee in hand.:)
