How about a tin of Haggis? Gants produce a tin that is not at all bad (if you can't have fresh, which, if you want to pack and wrap wouldn't be suitable). I, personally, can't stand haggis, but an awful lot of people love it.
And then there's oatcakes which go a treat with any of the Arran Cheeses.
Or were you just wanting sweet treats ?whitesatin wrote: »
I am Scottish and will be going to Glasgow before Christmas so plan to stock up on some Scottish goodies, like tablet, macaroon, shortbread and maybe even some whisky or simlar. Any further ideas would be appreciated, perhaps focussing on the Scottish thing as there is very little they don't already have. My grandaughter will have lots of presents so I will probably put in a game or something for her rather than a toy. We exchange presents a few days later at a big family do at my house when I will also be doing the traditional Christmas food.
For some reason I am quite excited about doing this, might even make a few chocolates myself. I do want it to reflect a typical British Christmas, with the Scottish slant, as they are not originally from Britain, except my son of course who has the best of all worlds, lol.0 -
They also has these in the co-op too although they were £6 each or 2 for £10. I think some choccie tins were also in the offer though. I'm hoping they come down in price a bit as I'd like to get one for my brother for Christmas.

All the food and drink will be in hand and we are looking forward to some lovely dishes. Anyway, I want to put together a hamper to bring along to add something to the day.

whitesatin - i was in sainsburys today and they had small chocolate scottie dogs in a little plastic case. i noticed them because i have a westie named haggis, so usually like to get westie/scottie themed bits for xmas.0 -
you are brave. I have 4 cats and there is no way I would take any more than 1 at a time. I usually have to wear gardening gloves and hold my head right back so they don't crawl up my chest away from the vet. as you say - they are such lovely kind cats most of the time.
if I take my dog, he usually wees on the vet. and also goes for him. and he is a lovely vet.
fun times :j
:rotfl::rotfl:I have this vision of your pooch ambling casually up to the vet and cocking his leg! :rotfl:ah bless them - who would be a vet! as you say - our pets are lovely with us, maybe they feel about vets the way I feel about dentists!!!0 -

I need the Lush website now too - I always manage to avoid going in the shop cos it smells so amazing I know I would take root and never leave:D

Flowfy and snugglebunny- I'm back! We both survived (me and vet) the booster trip, although I now have a very grumpy cat! He is usually sweet tempered and so laid back he is nearly horizontal but come vet time-he turns into a whirling dervish! Teeth, claws, drool everywhere-and that's just me trying to get him into the basket! Mind you- even though I had trouble getting him into the basket it was nothing compared to what the vet went through to get him out! If I wasn't so embarrassed it would have been hilarious! She tipped the carrier upside down (its fabric with a fleecy lining) and still he wouldn't come out-he was hanging upside down inside! It took longer to get him out than it did to check him over, inject and weigh him! Mind you he scooted back in with no hesitation! He is now skulking on the window sill in the kitchen and screams at me whenever I go in there cus he wants to be let out (advised to keep him indoors today). He will come round later when I bribe him with Dreamies!
I must be one of the few people that don't like Lush shops- they make me sneeze like mad. I do like their products though but individually rather than en masse. My poor nose cant take it and I would rather avoid a tenna lady moment (if you know what I mean!) so I avoid the shop like the plague.
OMG! am howling laughing at the idea of him hanging upside down in an upended basket!! :rotfl::rotfl: but mainly because Ive had exactly the same experience of upending mine and nothing appearing! poor puss gets so scared she lashes out, my OH came with me a couple of years ago and was flattened against the wall in horror at how scary she was! he clearly didnt believe anything I had told him about previous visits! shes usually fine as soon as we get home though, but the other cat who is terrified of her own shadow almost seems to handle it better ... if she could she would put her paws over her eyes and pretend it wasnt really happening:p0 -

Love it-I am addicted to everything related to gingerbread men! I missed the M&S gingerbread man biscuit tin a couple of years ago and I was gutted! I have a handsome gingerbread man cookie jar that Mom brought me last year which I use all year round even though it has holly etc on.
My neighbour has just knocked the door to tell me he has brought some chickens and " baby peacocks to keep in the garden-flaming marvellous! My BIL used to have peacocks and he had to get rid cus they screamed all the time- I sense some neighbourly 'discussions' in the months to come! Hopefully they wont cause problems but I'm not holding my breath!
flippin' heck! those things are noisy ...Id send your cats round sharpish! :rotfl:0
