I have a pair of soot sprite earrings from House Of Wonderland They saw my Alice in Wonderland paper cut on Etsy and begged me for a trade - seeing as they also had a Willy Wonka chocolate bar necklace I couldn't resistwhitesatin wrote: »We have been invited to my son and his wife's for Christmas Day. Their little 5yr old daughter will be there as will his wife's mum and sister. All the food and drink will be in hand and we are looking forward to some lovely dishes. Anyway, I want to put together a hamper to bring along to add something to the day.
I am Scottish and will be going to Glasgow before Christmas so plan to stock up on some Scottish goodies, like tablet, macaroon, shortbread and maybe even some whisky or simlar. Any further ideas would be appreciated, perhaps focussing on the Scottish thing as there is very little they don't already have. My grandaughter will have lots of presents so I will probably put in a game or something for her rather than a toy. We exchange presents a few days later at a big family do at my house when I will also be doing the traditional Christmas food.
For some reason I am quite excited about doing this, might even make a few chocolates myself. I do want it to reflect a typical British Christmas, with the Scottish slant, as they are not originally from Britain, except my son of course who has the best of all worlds, lol.
This sounds wonderful! Not sure how feasible it will be with temperatures, but personally I would love some smoked scottish salmon in a hamper, maybe with some blinis?2024 Challenges

I have written thecards that need posted, and written th post by dates and have found the little novelties that go in the cards to friends I don't buy presents for, this year it is a flat, colourful wooden tree ornament shaped like either a snowflake or a sleigh, and the cards are in the box with them all ready. The ironing is groaning at me and the hoover is sulking, it doesn't know why I have fallen out with it. I have dead headed the winter primroses and the cyclamen, can't book the craft week break yet, and have sent the parcel of returns to amazon, but my enthusiasm has just dropped out of sight.
I will go and visit my lovely sil and bro, take them their winter flower tub. that will cheer us both up. Back soon xxx
I think you deserve a relaxed, fun day, as by the looks of your list you are already doing really well!Own_My_Own wrote: »Tomorrow on my way home from work I am going to get this from the Garden Centre.

It is £12.99. I saw it there yesterday and was amazed it wasn't more expensive, as things there normally are.
I just went online to look for one similar and found the above which is exactly the same one, only it's £16.99
The Garden Centre is a Parker's, just incase anyone has one near them.
OMO I now need this in my life! It is no secret that I have a gingerbread man obsession! This sweet little chap would look awesome on my counter all year roundOwn_My_Own wrote: »Tomorrow on my way home from work I am going to get this from the Garden Centre.

Love it-I am addicted to everything related to gingerbread men! I missed the M&S gingerbread man biscuit tin a couple of years ago and I was gutted! I have a handsome gingerbread man cookie jar that Mom brought me last year which I use all year round even though it has holly etc on.
My neighbour has just knocked the door to tell me he has brought some chickens and " baby peacocks to keep in the garden-flaming marvellous! My BIL used to have peacocks and he had to get rid cus they screamed all the time- I sense some neighbourly 'discussions' in the months to come! Hopefully they wont cause problems but I'm not holding my breath!
Sorry but this did make me chuckle a bit - I mean peacocks in the garden isn't exactly normal :rotfl: Do they get to the same size as normal peacocks, because unless he has an acre of land it seems a bit cruel to keep them in a 'normal' sized garden.2024 Challenges

Crowdpleaser so happy for you! It's all going to move along quickly now
Freespirit I think as the others have said you will be able to nab an extra ticket
Well I made progress with the Christmas food list last night and have actually bought some more to store when we did the food shop today
Am I the only one looking for boots items to nab in the 75% off sale?I can't decide between battling the crowds this year or depending on the internet - I know the site crashed last year, but it was also difficult to get any decent bits in the actual store as people were clearing out huge sections

Ok, Im going to do a little squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee now. Its sort of Christmas related.
Ok, so we put our diddy 2 up 2 down on the market in July, it sold within 2 days. We had an offer accepted on a 4 bed detatched 2 days later. Our buyer was a complete pain, constantly on at the estate agent to get things moving. I mean we were keen but she was a pain. Anyway, the detatched had an offer accepted etc. Anyway, there was then 4 in the chain and the 5th was being a pain, couldn't find anywhere but refused to vacate. We are starting to get annoyed. Then, 3 weeks ago our pain the butt buyer pulled out. We were gutted. Anyway, back on market next day and sold for asking to lovely family (we actually had 3 viewings and all 3 offered). Still nowt from numer 5 in the chain. Anyway, DH rang estate agent today.... and...... our chain is now complete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am trying not to get too giddy and DH not nosy enough and didn't find out what the actual situation is but at least we are complete! And the estate agent( taking with pinch of salt as has lied the whole way though) said we could be eating Christmas dinner in our new place!!!!!
I am sooooo thrilled as this will be the girls first year at home rather than at family (apart from dd1 first xmas which was in a an incubator so that doesn't count!) and I would just love it to be in the new house with lots of space for them and all their stuff!!!!
WOOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Wow that's great, hopefully you will be in your new home by Christmas!
Along with the Thomas DVDs I got a Humphrey's Christmas book from Home Bargains for £1.99 and a fairisle patterned hot water bottle for my son's bed when it gets colder. That was £2.99Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Hi everyone!
Only 3 months to go! This reminded me that I hadn't popped in here for a while. Sorry about that. Hope you're all doing ok.
I've read back a few pages and haven't seen this mentioned, so I hope I'm not repeating old news. I just wanted to tell you all that New Look are getting Christmas jumpers/hoodies/t shirts in stock in the next 1-2 weeks. This includes the Inspire range 18-28(few things go to 32), which I am THRILLED about! They have lots of great ones coming and not bad prices, either. Jumpers under £30, which isn't as cheap as Primark, but cheaper than many places. I've heard Primark have their Christmas jumpers in some stores too. I got one from the men's range last year and love it! Get in before the mad December rush starts and you can't find them anywhere except eBay (at 2 or 3 times the price!) :TCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Do they not allow you to book extras?
At my uni everyone was allowed 2 guest but then could apply for extra tickets. Made it fair so everyone could have two, then leftover tickets were distributed around those who applied for error. Don't know anyone that didn't get their extras
We have to order two then after a certain date you can ring a number to see if there are any spare tickets left, thankyou for giving me hope
ALJA hope you have a good day xmas shopping tomorrow

Ha ha! No, I do that too! I won't buy full price. The website always crashes and many, many people will stay up all night to get the bargains that they've been eyeing up for weeks. If you want the best of both worlds, do an online order then be in your local Boots for when it opens on 75% off day. But some stores have some very rude people in there just buying stuff to eBay/car boot. It's quite stressful, but can be worth it.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

So I have had a productive week last week. I was at work Monday, we had a recruitment evening Wed, Thurs I was at skincare training at the Grand Connaught Rooms, They are beautiful and I got loads of swag! Then Friday was haircare training at a Saks salon in Covent Garden again more Swag! Then in work at 8.30 Saturday and then again at 12 on Sun.
Friday was mental caus I was at training and the parents were seeing Rod Stewart at the o2 friday night so I get in from training and was on puppy watch.
Things are looking good at work too, I'm already a keyholder which we already knew, but the guy who got supervisor last time is moving to white city so I'm going for it again.
