Me, dh, dd1 & dd2 go to see Santa christmas eve with my sister her dh and 3sons, try to go to a different place each year. Last year was a farm, year before beamish and year before that Alnwick gardens, haven't started planning this years yet.
After that we go to dh aunts for buffet type tea where all his family are, so very easy for us but not for his aunt then back home to find the elves have mysteriously left Xmas eve hampers for us all (usually snuck in to livin room by me, while dh gets girls in the car b4 our day out)0 -
We tend to meet up with family for a breakfast on Christmas Eve, then spend the rest of the day doing lovely things with lots of music and fun. I also try to prepare as much of the lunch as I can for the next day.
Our little one is usually shattered by bedtime and keen to be asleep before Father Christmas arrives!
We have an Indian takeaway and a rest, before filling the stockings!
I am thinking of making my own door wreath this year, so need to start looking into that soon.0 -
It's our wedding aniversary on Xmas eve. I normally work so it's become a bit of a tradition for dh to cook us a lovely meal. Last year was steak and chips. We watch a movie with the kids first and then when we've put them to bed we sit and have a lovely candle lit meal. Nice and relaxing before the madness starts trying to bring all Santa's pressies down without making a sound.Savings Account - £0.00

Picnmix my homework isn't done yet either, tho I have made a start! I'm pretty sure Miss Linky said we had till Sunday to hand it in. Ppssst have you seen our geek of the week- teachers pet Alja she's handed hers in early!!! Next thing you know she'll be bringing in an apple for the teacher haha( Alja well done you, I'm only joking xxx)
Haha! :rotfl: I somehow managed to do it whilst half asleep last night (which sounds just like me back in school trying to finish off school homework!) but thank you!
Thank you OMO for letting me know about the last question, I really wasn't with it, but definitely get what you mean nowI will leave my wrapping and cards until December. I don't have many cards to write and only have my parents to buy for mainly, so just the buying to spread out across the weeks
Hope everyone has had a lovely day! x0 -
Freespirit: The clock was fantastic! Definitely my favourite of the show. I’m looking forward to attempting one. Will have to post a picture up once it’s done nearer Christmas.
Crowdpleaser: I’m not a big turkey fan either. My DM often does turkey and beef so I tend to just have the beef.
Picnmix: Don’t tell me you had a near breakdown, wondering how hard gingerbread houses are now. I’m not the most patient of people sometimes and if things don’t go right when I’m baking I can sometimes easily give up.
Nanamia: Fantastic news about your DH, very pleased for you both.
Looking for some gingerbread people cutters, does anyone know if pound shops may have them? I don’t want to spend too much.
Maybe not the cheapest but I have this one from M&S. I have had it for a few years and it is used to cut biscuits and to draw around so plenty of use and still looking good.

Just sitting here updating my gift spreadsheet to incorporate todays Entertainer purchases & got to thinking about Christmas Eve dinner. For us it is all about easy comfort food, as little cooking as possible & watching a movie on tv with dinner on laps in our Pj's so this year I think it will be Maccaroni & cheese ready meals from M&S, this is THE best shoup bought mac & cheese & for us it is comfort food X 100. Maybe a little garlic bread & salad too. Yum, drooling just thinking about it.
So what about you, what is your Christmas eve dinner, do you go all elaborate or are you like us & go for quick & easy?
We're normally take away-ers! No prep whilst we get down stairs ready for the big day. Though this year my fil & his partner are going away xmas day & theyw ere on about us going round there for some food but not too late so thinking mid afternoon which will be nice! Though i've only ever been away fr home 1 xmas eve, and got drunk which I never wish to repeat again :rotfl: This was only xmas eve 2011 so not that long ago! M&S mac & cheese sounds lovely, will pick some up to try when I'm next at a food hallSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -

We usually go for quick and easy, usually buffet style foodie bits. Nicely buttered bread rolls, mini pizzas, duck rolls, satay sticks etc...coleslaw, grapes, carrots, celery (& other veg), maybe some cheese twists, a little dip, crackers and cheese, and whatever other fancy little bits we end up getting etc etc0
