How about we start a list of foods for the Christmas pantry.

I will start & then the next person copies the existing list & adds their things to it, this will give people inspiration & also help remind us of what we need to get so that there is no last minute panick shops. :)

Only put things that can be bought, if you buy something to make a receipe then just put "Sausage meat (to make stuffing)" but don't add recipes unless someone asks specifically. This should work in the style of a shopping list.

    I'll start with the obvious ones;

    Turkey
    Beef Joint
    Pork Joint
    Salmon side
    Stuffing mix
    Sausage meat (to make stuffing)
Sausages wrapped in bacon (or cocktail sausages & bacon)
    Crackers for Cheese
    Cheese selection board
    Piccalilli
    Branston Pickle
Turkey Gravy granules or ready made
Beef Gravy granules or ready made
    Mince Pies
    Christmas Pudding
    Custard
    Single cream
    Double cream
    Brussel Sprouts
    Cabbage
    Brocolli
    Cauliflower
    Peas
    Carrots
    Potatoes (for mash & roast)

That's all I can think of for now :)

    Chocolates
    Chocolates
    And chocolates :rotfl:

Snugglebunny-the ball is green! bright luminous green-I can see it when its tucked inside her mouth and she's 100ft away!! And cus she darts here there and everywhere at speed it really did look like a spaceship at low level!! I don't know how long it will last though as I could hear her crunching at it as she ran back to me-will have to watch it cus of the battery. It made me smile at 5.30 this morning and not much can do that! She usually has a Frisbee that she can see no matter how dark it is but its just too windy now for it, so I thought the ball would be a good idea for me-not her.

I cant knit to save my life but little stocking would be lovely for the cinder toffee coal- or maybe a small felt stocking? I'm not in a rush to see how messy black food colouring would be in homemade coal but please feel free to try it and report back-(with pics!:rotfl:). I remember my late MIL making a BLACK spider cake for my DD for her first birthday-it was NOT a pretty sight once she had dribbled it down her pretty party dress I can tell you!
(Not that I am suggesting that anyone on here dribbles-lol)
    lovin' this site!

  • Could you do normal cinder toffee/honeycomb then dip in dark chocolate, suppose it wouldn't be totally black but near enough!

The elfster site looks more geared to families doing a secret santa, where they don't need to post things, and have a bigger budget than us, it would be the giver that was a secret, not the gift as you'd create a wishlist when using that site? If we did make a facebook group the person who collates the swap has everone's details and only passes the individual one on to the 'Santa'. This involves giving your details, so if people aren't keen to do this, then it's not going to work. Perhaps maybe best to give it a miss!

Murie - That light up ball sounds great I'll need to go looking for one for P. She already has a light up flashy collar, but I never thought of a light up ball so she can see it! Aliens may also be landing soon in my local park!

Spendless - I saw the beauty advent calendars last year and wanted one so much! But the ones I'd seen were over £100!!! Silly as it's made up of samples that are usually given away by the brands as free, it's even a promotional item as you could try the sample then buy the full size! My friend and I are making our own and swapping them, have been collecting samples for it - so will both get a lovely advent callendar for free!
  • Murie I can just imagine how spooky that must look LOL!!!

quidsy thanks for the list! will have a think what I can add :-)

PoppyGirl- definitely a better idea to dip the 'coal' in chocolate! Yum! Ball was £4 from pets at home. Its slightly bigger in size than a tennis ball and has a rubber coated hard shell. (ideal for a crazy german shepherd!)

No need to quote it, just copy & paste the most recent list & add your stuff to the bottom :)

  • Pink steps - How typical of hmrc! Definately appeal, just incase. Have fun with your lists, its amazing what you can do when you have to, we are still about £500 a month down from this time last year when I was employed full time, but strangely we now seem better off, just through planning and being careful!

Yummymummyoftwo - Thankyou for the lego link! I am prepared and ready to go and “feel” my way to the gingerbread man & elf tomorrow!

Caitlyn22 - aw what a wonderful idea! Especially as it seems the secret santa may be a bit too difficult to organise. I am all for everyone actually TREATING THEMSELVES and then we can all post pictures of what we brought! We could wrap it from “all your holly & ivy friends” for xmas day!

Nana - aw hunny I’m sorry to hear about your df, I hope all goes well. And to of course with your dh. Big hugs xx

Feisty - I hope you get some possitive news very soon x
Hope all goes well with the shop visit too, we are all very excited for you so can only imagine how you feel x

Pink steps - Im afraid I cheat and buy cookie dough! No matter how many recipes I try I just cant get them right so wouldn’t want to suggest any. However, sainsbugs cookie dough is absolutely wonderful, we add our own choc chips, ground nuts, smarties or whatever and they always come out amazingly chewy and soft (if you know what I mean)

Mrshayes - Welcome! Sorry to hear about your last Christmas, I hope that we can be of some help to make this year extra special xx

Poppy girl - what a brilliant idea re the beauty advent!
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

Thank you snugglebunny, princesskitty and pinknfluffy for the welcome :)

I am feeling much more positive about Christmas this year already. I will probably have to work abit on Christmas eve for the first time in a long time although i will get Christmas Day and Boxing Day off however my current job is much less stressful than my previous one so i dont mind too much. We have also agreed we are going to limit contact with DH family and focus on just the 4 of us, then anyone else we see is a bonus!

Could I ask if anyone sees any fairly cheap angry birds bits could they let me know please? I am doing a little hamper for my oldest as he loves them. So far I have a drawstring bag, some socks, a cuddly toy and a little plastic box! Many thanks :)
