  • Right just been to primarni. V unimpressed by the xmas jumpers this year. More tacky yhan funky like lasy years although once again the mens is nicer. They had woolen xmas leggings too. Red and blue I think. If I can find a navy blue knitted dress I may consider the blue ones. Best buy tho was some fab fold over xmas gloves. They had trees reindeer or pudding I think for s bargain 2 quid. Oh and I got some snowman earrings for a pound. Couldnt see the throws. They also had xmas tshirts but the quality wasnt great for a fiver.
  • Afternoon everyone, drain all sorted :j DS said he was only here 5mins apparently it was washing powder he said i should try using half of what i use now, very mse :money:so all sorted, 'breathes sigh of relief' phew (its also the first time i have had to call someone out since ex left) still not feeling too good, feel chesty as well now.

Freespirit I've been thinking about DS today but couldn't get on to read-been manic here! I'm delighted that he got a better response today, as he so totally deserved too obviously! And that they've offered him a job :) everything happens for a reason doesn't it. I'm keeping everything crossed that the drain problem is sorted tomorrow whilst DS is in charge! But then I'm gonna nag the living day lights out of you till you get to the drs! You've really been off colour and not yourself of way too long. Argh I do not know how your DD kept her temper, sounds to me like a sevre case of the green eyed monster! xxx
Ha Ha i know im a right hypochondriac at the moment :) thankyou re DS, well DD1 won in the end she has been offered a role out of the dept she is in, into a new dept being set up :)

Nanamia household is still well and truly upside down. The good news is the plastering is finished woo hoo. Can't tell if it looks fab yet but will keep you posted. Thanks for the positive comments on the wallpaper choice. Stil got to convince DH, slowly does it.
Due to a mix up I with one of my DNs I went to see the consultant today with DSiL awww I love that lady, she's inspirational. Doing brill three month check up woo hoo, that gives her a few weeks off hospital trips.
Came home to a message form my DF (poorly friend who was on the mend) to say she has a lump and is to go back to the specialist :( Couldn't do any ringing round for her cos it was by now after hours. Hopefully get some good news for her tomorrow, unfortunately she was on her own and is very mixed up what was actually said.
And DH has an appointment with his surgeon in the morning, should've just topped and tailed with somebody whilst I was there with DSiL this afternoon looks like we are going to be spending some time there tomorrow. Really hoping that DH gets a positive appointment and that my friend has misinterpreted what was said. Will be back tomorrow xxx
Glad all your plastering has been finishred i cant wait to see your nice new freshly decorated room, that is fab news about DSIL, hope your DF has got it mixed up and that your DHs appt goes well today

choc oranges are 99p right now at morrisons. I bought 2 last night from a morrisons near Holmfirth, Yorkshire.
I didn't see the choc satsumas last year on offer because my ds loves them and kept asking for them, but I may be wrong.
making nigellas Christmas morning muffins today half to eat, half for the freezer. also a giant chilli, again half for our evening meal and half for the freezer.
I have 2 meals now ready for the Christmas meal plan. the other is beef in mulled wine with chestnuts, which was an invention of mine.
I am trying to bake at least one thing a week and cook at least 2 so that I have little cooking to do from December 1st. As I have to go out every night with my son playing Christmas concerts etc. it can be a good thing. we are at the Trafford centre in Manchester 2 days which means I will do any shopping from there on those days. also, I think the other Saturdays are spent in Leeds town centre. the evenings are more local jobs in Manchester, Rochdale and West Yorkshire. Off to 2 rehearsals with 2 different bands/groups tonight. the first one is already practicing 'The Nutcracker' and my son is doing the complicated Glockenspiel/Xylophone part. then rush over the hills to do a 2 hour rehearsal with 'The Yorkshire Tea Band'. its all go.
Bought a glorious advent calendar yesterday from the card company Pheonix, through my friend. a 3D snowy village, each house is numbered and you can put choc/sweets in. :D
Oh wow you are doing so well already, i havent even sorted my recipes yet waiting for xmas mags esp Good Food, i make the nigella muffins every year for breakfast they are lovely, what a lovely interest for your DS and how festive it must make you feel, the advent calendar sounds lovely

Freespirt- as the Churchill dog on the advert says- 'Oh yes!' I do feel sick with it and when there is a flare up I 'up chuck' every time I move!:(. I do feel a lot better with these tablets tho/QUOTE]
oh dear that isnt nice hope it goes away soon x
Freespirit - WOOHOO! So glad your DS gone that job :) Although people are embarrassed about working there, they are said to be quite good for working your way up :) Fingers crossed workmen get it sorted with DS today :)
Well we finally had a courtesy call back from solicitors today (week and a half late!) to say that due to the lengthy, complicated issues in DH case (against the NHS) it needs to be discussed among the partners. Not sure if this is a good thing (as they haven't automatically skimmed through and said no) or a bad thing. Still no word from the hospital and they promised an MRI within 2 weeks, which will be Friday
DH is being taken to actually see inside the shop (properly) today as I need to go and pay my hefty deposit  He said he is excited, which is a bit of a revelation for him! So fingers crossed all goes well :) I am also looking forward to looking round as it is now officially soon to be mine!Hope everyone has a good day :)
Thankyou re: DS, fingers crossed for the solicitors decision, and the Hosp is still mucking DH around :mad::mad::mad::mad: Hope DH likes the shop

I have posted here before, though I think only once, spending more of my time on the hamper thread. Glad I'm not the only one with itchy feet about the stores getting their Christmas stuff out and gets fidgety when they don't get their Home Bargains fix.:rotfl: though I re-discovered B&M last year too.:DI already have my Mums present as this year it's slightly different. She has a beauty advent calendar. Full price it was £75 I think, wayyyy over budget but I bought it 1/2 price and put it away for this year. My Dad has requested a book, but he's going to have to get it as his hobby is clay pigeon shooting and it's just not mainstream enough for you to find gifts for this on the High St. I'm also going to get him a razorpit as he like my husband grumbles like mad about the price of razor blades and hubby swears by his.
    SPENDLESS hello and welcome :)

Hi I have been a reader of this thread and it's predecessors for many years and always found it to be heartwarming and inspiring.
I have finally plucked up the courage to try to get involved this year as I would like this Christmas to be special seeing as last year did not really go to plan as I was suffering quite badly with depression (ending with me having a breakdown in the new year) as well as lots of issues with DH's family. Just starting to get a few bits for Christmas as we have just heard we are getting £4000 back from NRAM due to our old loan be non compliant with the CCA. Whilst this is going to pay for a new boiler and pay a huge chunk off our credit card it will free up some extra money per month which means I can start my shopping a little bit early ( I had budgeted for starting in Oct)
Anyway i will go back and start catching up on previous posts now, Very much looking forward to getting involved. Please be gentle with me!
MRSHAYES hello and welcome to our thread, sorry last years xmas was so rotten, great news about the extra money, that will help make this years xmas a lot better x

Does anyone have a recipe for big chewy cookies, the type you can buy from supermarket with choc chunks etc in? I want to make some and freeze but would like a fail safe recipe please. X
I think Lorraine Pascale has a recipe for these, or FEISTYS cookies would be lovely made bigger like this

  • Unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to claim anything for the oven, apparantly other people that have bought it have been going round in circles between the oven company selling it and the manufacturers with neither of them accepting liability. Plus it was already there when we bought the house, we have no idea how long the previous owners had it for. So I think we'll just have to get a new one.
I cant believe they arent accepting liability that is disgusting

PoppyGirl- definitely a better idea to dip the 'coal' in chocolate! Yum! Ball was £4 from pets at home. Its slightly bigger in size than a tennis ball and has a rubber coated hard shell. (ideal for a crazy german shepherd!)
    :)
Guess what mine will be getting for xmas?????
