  • :rotfl:Afternoon lots of xmas nattering today :)
I may have already mentioned it but it has a real working wood fire that is used for heating in the winter - coupled with cosy armchairs I think I may be escaping there for some quiet time after hours ;)
Freespirit it sounds like you had a lovely evening :) I take over beginning of November - they wanted me to take it ASAP but I still need to raise the other 2k
Oh FEISTY a real fire, how blooming cosy, oooh you will be bursting by then :rotfl:so excited for you, is DH interested in the shop?

Freespirit aaaargggh Wednesday next week? Over a week? Oh my word that's poor service isn't it. You may have to live on take aways, or paper plates? Never mind the laundry! :( Im glad DS has another interview fingers crossed for him but secretly I'm hoping he won't start till say maybe Thursday ! Those blooming ambulance chasers drive me potty!!! Hope it didn't shake DD2 also secretly hoping it scared the sh@t out of ex (haha) I will leave my mithering about the drs till next week, although I am still on a mission to sort your pain and migraines out- you have enough to deal with!
I'm sticking with my lurking on the flylady thread, only doing the 15 min task and I'm not beating myself up trying to do anymore. Slowly does it! I won't be spending the weekend trying to complete the lists. Just thought if I did my usual pottering and added one of theirs I may see an improvement :) Having the living room walls and ceiling plastered next week so not much point in doing much. Got to strip the walls tomorrow in preperation.....
I know i thought it was pretty awful, but as DS rang for me i couldnt really flip out, DS i/v is only for temp work but its just to get money in, he also has an iv tomorrow with a recruitment agency, haha i love that, i said to DS if i was on my death bed i dont want to open my eyes and see ex there :rotfl:you do make me giggle NANAMIA i need it today BD very much here, struggled to get out of bed, let alone shower i know what it flipping is though that is what is so annoying, its worrying about next week, i get on my own nerves sometimes :rotfl:Im glad you are doing 15 min tasks but that is the good thing about flylady they are so relaxed about it what gets done does and what doesnt, well doesnt. Oh god i wouldnt even bother if you have to strip walls and are having work done.

I've been wearing huge enormous cotton knickers the comfy sort, moved on to pretty lacey knickers -large and now prettier lacier knickers in a MEDIUM tempted to wear them over my jeans ha. Was very very tempted to wear my size 12 dress inside out so everybody could see the label. Thankfully up to now I've resisted but it's been a struggle xxx

  • Morning all, lovely autumn morning, hoping it stays dry. I am going to the theatre this evening, birthday present, really looking forward to it, been waiting for 6 mths, except for one quite important factor, it is at the Globe, therefore outdoors  Going to see Midsummer Night's Dream, studied it at school a million years ago so it will bring back memories.

Well, have bought myself a pair of snudals for the wedding, did get a strange look when I was telling someone, was supposed to say nude sandals but it came out as snudals:rotfl:Wonder if I can get the word into the OED?:D

FreeS, what a pain having to wait that long for drain to be sorted, hopefully this will mean that for this negative, the positive will be DS getting job.
Oh GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY hope you have a lovely time tonight, hope the weather holds off for you, ha i love that word SNUDALS, aah thats a lovely thing to say yes lets hope so thankyou

OMO oh they are bloody useless it makes you so mad, if they say on the phone they will do something then they should bl**dy well do it there and then  thanks for tesco link
FEVERTOTELL oh i love garden centres all year round for coffee and a walk around but xmas time i can spend hours there
SNUGGLEBUNNY oh those WW bags sound fab, i like winter wonderland yankee candle, i have just checked my stash and in candles i have a med eggnog and a large mistletoe and fig and various tarts, so i need to really get a look out for some more
MSGIGGLEWICK lovely to see you back on here, oh will have to watch out for clintons offers, your afternoon sounds lovely
POPPYGIRL oh what a beautiful picture he/she looks very regal

  • Last year we bought a lovely fleece throw from Primark. Unfortunately it got lost during the year and I'd love the get another one so will have to keep an eye out. I ended up buying the annuals from WH Smith as they were BOGOHP. Got a Sparkle and a Disney Fairies one. I've saved all my Xmas mags from last year so have started to go through them. Trying to remember where I bought the Xmas pyjamas from last year - think it might have been Primark. I used to work in Cardiff city centre so was always out and about in my lunch hour but now I'm working out of town I'll need to be more organised. Can anyone remember - was it the end of October last year that Argos had 3 for 2 on toys? DD1 wants Lego so will need to keep an eye out xx
  • FeistyFidget That sounds very exciting! Good luck with it all. I’ll be teaching a Key Stage two class on this next placement (Years 3 to 6) although not sure exactly which year group yet. I’ve requested a year 3 or 4 class as I don’t really want to teach the older ones. My experience is with the younger ones so ideally I’d love to eventually teach year 1 or 2.

Peppapig I hope you found some bargains. I never think of cheaper shops for PJs but got some gorgeous Disney Eeyore ones from Primark at the weekend for £10! They were official Disney ones too. I was after a long sleeved set which those ones were plus a short sleeved set so found a lovely pink t-shirt with All Things Nice written on along with long bottoms covered in cupcakes! Just £8. Bargain! I’d looked in Tesco but they were wanting £7 just for the bottoms

Nanamia That’s ok, don’t mind you being nosy at all. I am yes, just starting year 3 of a 4 year part time course. Will have taken me a lot longer than most people to complete as I started at one uni but hated it so left after a year, couldn’t transfer to the one I’m at now to start year 2 as the course was slightly different so had to wait another year to start again in year 1. So unfortunately for now I’m still living at home (Despite being 27) as I can’t afford to move in with the BF. But overall I now love my uni and although money is tight it will all be worth it

Gettingtherequickly Hope it’s stayed dry for the theatre for you. Been raining on and off all day where I am.

Popped into B&M on my lunch break but didn’t get a chance to have a proper look around. Did spot a box of Thorntons choccies for a bargain £2.99 so that’s my Aunt and Uncle taken care of. Will pop back in when I get more time.

I had an idea of maybe buying the Winter Wonderland song on DVD single and Yankee Winter Wonderland votive or tealights and a bar of Winter Wonderland chocolate and making up little WW gift bag of them?

Sungglebunny, that's a great idea for a themed gift - I think I might be borrowing that. I'll have to do it as a mini hamper in cellophane I think because otherwise I'm not sure the chocolate will make it til Christmas (and don't think a bit of wrapping paper would stop me:rotfl:)
Oh, am I the first to put up Christmas deccys? I have 3 conifers in pots, so when I removed the summer bedding plants I put solar fairy lights on them. They were lovely last night.

Glad to see you back Mrs Invisible. I was thinking of doing something similar - I thought then I could perhaps put pansies or other wintery plants round them and then in the spring take them out and put the summer bedding round them. Hopefully with the conifers being there all the time it will cut down on the amount of annuals I have to buy as well.

Good luck with the teaching Stephy. I trained as a teacher about 20 years ago (OMG can't believe that amount of time has gone by) focussing on ages 7-11. I think I knew half way through the four year course that I wasn't going to be doing it for a living but I ploughed on to get the degree.

Well, I had a lovely afternoon at Primark and B&M. Our Primark had some of the Christmas jumpers in and also some cute reindeer leggings. They've got some lovely hats and gloves and things for Christmas pressies so may be going back soon. Got some good bargains for pressies in B&M (the multi-photo frame type) but my favourite were two nicely shaped glass jars with an embossed heart on the front and metal lids in pink. Going to fill them with either sweets or bath things as pressies and the jars would be lovely to use afterwards.

I saw a post about tins of tea for 39p at B&M (Earl Grey and Green and Green Mint) - think it was on the B&M Bargains on the Grabbit thread. Anyway, they had them in our one - they look fabulous but all the Earl Grey were best before Oct 13 and all the Green and Mint were already out of date :( If I'd been buying for me I'd have got them anyway but it's not really good to give presents that are out of date. Shame because I was going to add them to a tea hamper. Also had some nice Christmas goodies but a lot of them were best before October too so if you're stocking up don't forget to check the dates on everything.

Chilly today so have a lovely coal fire roaring away and feeling festive. :)
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • OOOHHHHHH!!!! POPPYGIRL-that sounds amazing!!!!! i'd so be up for a secret santa, i remember doing that with uni friends many moons ago it was a lot of fun, count me in please

I didn't make it out today as the heavens opened so stayed at home and did some jobs, spent most of the afternoon, sorting out the wardrobes and putting away all the summer stuff-sorting out charity bags and pulling out the winter woollies, i've got my fave christmassy red chunky cable knit jumper on and feel lovely and warm-finally.

Martin Lewis is on the one show currently, so watching him ranting away about Christmas shopping! YAY!

I'm really excited about friday, i must rein myself in and not spend too much, we all need new(ish) winter clothes before i can start going Christmas crazy, but will get bits and bobs.

i saw the Christmas jumpers in primark, i can't decided whether i'd actually wear it though?! i don't want to waste money, but the snowman one looked cute. My dd might wear it so might get it her instead.

Plan for this evening, is to mooch on pinterest-not looked at the christmas things yet, and you have all inspired me...with a big mug of whittards white hot chocolate YUM!

    Enjoy your evenings xxx

Hello, it's lovely to see the thread so busy. Will need to read back to see how you are all getting on. I never seem to have much spare time to come on.

I've been to Home bargains this week. Picked up a few toys for the kids. Got a Peppa pig desk for my youngest and some girls false nail kit for my eldest DD. they had some lovely mugs with mug cosy's and other nice gift items in. X

Im hoping this works, should be a photo of my little fimo xmas tree decs!

Have been to a local designer outlet today, "claires" had any 10 items for £10! I got pretty hair clips, and jewellery as advent gifts for the girls, and a big 1D poster to pop in eldest dd's stocking. £48.50 worth for just £10!! I'm not sure if it's in all store or just the outlet's, but a fantastic offer! I also picked up a few bits in m&s, ribbon & bow packs reduced from £5 to £1.50, and a few little lipglosses for 50p each - great for dd's to give to friends.
My studio sale catalogue came yesterday, I have ordered plenty of wrapping paper (79p for 8 metres) and also got personalised pjs for xmas eve hamper. The 1D ones were £5.50 and the monster high ones £6 ish! Great prices!

Off to catch up now, hope everyone is well and keeping warm & dry x
