well im in full christmas mode now , ive requested my topcash back payment in amazon vouchers for dvd's for dd and my mum has suggested a wooly hat/scraf and socks for my dad apparently he never gets them as everyone thinks everyone else is getting them ! any recommendations on reasonably priced quality ones

The sad thing is i could easily knit the hat and scarf but i dont think homemade items would be appreciated unfortunately so im loathed to waste my time.

My dd is at her college assessment , its been very strange her not being here last night but if it goes well and we manage to get LEA funding [ i sense a fight ahead ![ it will be fantastic for her. ive got to pick her up at 4pm just what i love an unfamiliar town in rush hour traffic and a sat nav that tries to get you lost !

Thanks again for the birthday wishes, my OH took me for a champagne afternoon tea at a lovely hotel on the river where we live, it was wonderful! I love going for afternoon tea and it was just perfect as it meant we had most of the evening to come home and relax, we seem to have been on the go since getting back from honeymoon!

Fiesty I hope everything goes well with your OH, I suppose you feel this way because your OH’s operation and health issues are out of your hands. Getting other parts of your life organised will help and you’re doing really well. I’m wishing you lots of strength and positivity, just take one day at a time and you will both come out the other side. I was thinking about you the other day, I get a weekly Good Food email and it had a couple of vegan recipes in it:

    http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/656622/fromfeed/HJ76E6

I’m sure you have researched all of the recipes under the sun but I thought I would post them just in case. x

I also meant to say hello to all of the newbies , welcome, it’s love to have more people on the Christmas band wagon! :D

Good luck with the journey CHRISSYG, don’t worry if you make a wrong turn it should get you back to where you need to be! I hope your daughter does well.
  • Thanks noodles and Nanamia for the hamper ideas! I think I’m going to do:

    - Lounge pants and a t-shirt for OH and some pj’s for me
    - A Christmas mug each
    - Hot choc
    - Popcorn
    - DVD
    - Fluffy/slipper socks
    - Blanket
    - Maybe a Guinness for OH and some wine for me, although we’re not big drinkers.

In the future I could re-use the mugs and blanket. Oooh I’m super excited already and it’s only April!! :T

Noodles the baubles on Pinterest are lovely – definitely food for thought! And I do love your idea of going away for every anniversary – will pitch it to OH!

fatblackandwhite that’s a great idea for candle holders, I will definitely bear that in mind as it sounds great. I might even do it myself! :)

freespirit I remember reading now about how you felt really happy on the boat coming from Alcatraz into San Francisco Bay, I had a similar feeling when we were on the boat back from Alcatraz, I just felt really calm and happy. I love my tram I can’t wait to put it on the tree! I wonder if they are the same?

also some dora/ moshi monsters/ my little pony/ JLS/ The wanted/ minnie mouse and a few others that I can't remember. Sign says from £2.99 but can't remember what each of these were.

PRINCESSKITTY here are mine, i didnt realise it was so long ago, so i expect they arent the same now, wow i cant believe you had the same feeling coming back on the boat, that is exactly how i felt, perhaps that is how the prisoners felt when they were released :rotfl:Oh your champagne afternoon tea sounds lovely, glad you had a lovely day with hubby
NANAMIA oh sorry you are feeling so rubbish, so many people seem to be at the moment, and that is exactly it, you hit the nail on the head, about the black dog. Hope you have a lovely night with DGD they have a knack of making you smile even when you dont feel like it
FEISTY thankyou my lovely and that is brilliant getting two orders!! I know how you feel everything is out of your hands and it makes you feel powerless, you need to feel in control in other parts of your life to make up for it, sending lots of keep calm vibes to you! Could you not do a bit of a pamperingwind down xmas eve hamper for hubby, his favourite treats, a drink (dont know if he drinks) or hot chocolate, some xmassy smelling massage oil to massage his shoulders, some nice mens bubble bath, pjs, a dvd he wants to watch?
CHRISSYG glad it went so well at your DDs college assessment that is brilliant, hope the driving went ok, my worst nightmare having to drive to somewhere new, panicking about where to park urggggh

I did a xmas eve hamper for the first time last year after hearing about them on here, and although my kids are in their 20s they absolutely loved it, they said it was one of their favourite things (wish i had known about them 20 yrs ago) the hampers not the kids....... i put in:
    XMAS ONESIES
    CAN WINE
    CAN JACK DANIELS AND COKE
    SHORTBREAD
    POPCORN
    DVDS
    CHOCOLATES
    HOT CHOC CONES
    CRISPS
    LOTTERY SCRATCHCARDS
DOG BEER AND DOG BISCUITS (obv for the dog) :)

I also have a similar Xmas tram tree dec from San Francisco. Love that place! Wish I could live there...I'd get used to those hills, eventually!

I really want someone to make a Christmas eve hamper for me. I've asked my Auntie if she could make it a tradition to buy us a Christmas DVD and a Christmas cross stitch ornament kit every year, but a hamper would be great.

Btw, do you all know there's a 10% discount evening at B&M stores on Thursday from 5pm? http://www.bmstores.co.uk/ Thought I'd mention it in case it was useful to anyone.

goodness a few days awol and its taken me an hour to catch up!
Nanamia, love the cakes, I have just finished DDs forms. Trouble is, you get so down writing all the things she can't do and all the problems she has, that on Saturday we were both in tears, and I just wanted to kill someone (preferably the idiot who decided that we had to do it and the brainless moron who designed the form) But it will get posted today and its then in the lap of the gods.
On a happier note, my flights to china are booked, 10th to 27th june yippee. Fly to Beijing meet DDiL we have a day and a bit shopping there (my treat to her, a nice hotel and some child-free retail) then fly to Shenyang to see my babies cant wait!
Today I m taking my friend out to lunch, she is off work with stress, and it is only a month since her mum died, so we can spend a bit of time out and , as we are eating at the lovely garden centre in the next town, we can smell the roses. That's the plan. Now, get up and get DGS to school, xxxx hugs to everyone

SanFran sounds amazing! I think of things don't go according to plan on the baby front (trying to prepare for being childless) then we will see the world and have lots of dogs ;)

MrsInvisible, gotta love these bigwigs that just want to curry favor with part of the voting population, but have no clue how to do it - they seriously have no idea of the stress and strain they are putting genuine people under :(

Just to stress us out, they have decided to call yesterday and bring DH hospital op forward a day - thank goodness I am self employed, I feel terrible enough having to mess my placement about, but a boss would not be happy! On a brighter note, because of the bank holiday I am only working Tuesday morning next week and then off for almost 2 weeks to look after DH - finally some time together!

Thank you for all the kind words and vegan recipes :)
