Hi, Hanley re whisky, if its not too late, a beautiful and inexpensive blended whisky is Grants sherry cask matured, at about £18 a bottle. If you want a darker, peaty whisky, black grouse at the same sort of price, and if you want a single malt Glenfiddich or Glenmorangie about £27 unless on offer anywhere. I'm not a fan of the bourbon types, they are a bit sweet, and I guess if your fil is 80 he din't 'grow up' with bourbons. Have you looked in his cupboards to see what he currently has?
Change in the weather, but could still get washing dried, soof I go.0 -
Hi all. I'm after a little bit of advice. It's dh's grandad's 80th birthday this weekend and we have bought him 2 whiskey glasses and had them engraved. The problem is the glasses didn't come in a box and I'm not sure how to wrap them. Does anyone know of anywhere I could find a nice basket/box that I could put them in, maybe with some tissue paper. I also wanted to get a nice bottle of whiskey to go with them but I'm not a whiskey drinker and have no idea which are the best ones. Any help will be much appreciated.
It could be worth finding out from those who know him what type of whisky he likes. I once spent £40 on a bottle for my dad for Christmas (this was around 20 years ago and £40 was a lot of money for me) only for him to tell me he didn't like that whisky as it was too peaty. There is usually quite a good selection of whisky in Mr T and they do hold my dad's fav which is the Balvenie. Or if you live near a distillery they usually have good shops attached and the shop assistants will be able to advise you.0 -
Thanks Nanamia and freespirit-Im going to get OH to call when he gets back from sorting the car out. (checking its all ok for the holiday) Im such a chicken.
Nanamia-I checked OMOs profile and she hasnt been on since 25th March. Hope shes ok, hopefully its just something like dodgy internet connection?
Of course I didnt finish the packing yesterdayso need to finish today. I am looking forward to this holiday but Im worried the roads are going to be really icy and the cottage will be freezing! Last time the caravan was unbearably cold so although we had a great holiday it was horrible feeling chilled to the bone all the time! Hot water bottles, hats, gloves and blankets are definitely getting packed.

Hi guys, loving the thread :-)
I have been trying to get myself prepared for xmas early this year so i can budget properly and try to eliminate last minute panics. I want to make snowman soup for all my family but i have no idea what hot choc to use as i was also thinking of selling some when i do my xmas craft fairs. I have read through a the snowman soup posts to see if i can find an answer but havent been able to. Should i use a nice one like galaxey or aero or use a cheapy like asdas own or there smart price?
Sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place so if i have can someone point me in the right direction please?
thanks for reading, im sure i will be posting more instead of just lurking in the background0 -
Afternoon everyone hope you are all ok and keeping warm, it is absolutely freezing here, we had snow flurries yesterday its that cold brrrrr :snow_grin So i have made some creme egg brownies this afternoon to cheer my daughter up (it was one of my flylady tasks) she is so upset about her bonus and payrise (i know she is lucky to have a job and a nice BMW company car) but she has worked so hard this year and really wants to progress and has been told so many times it will happen that i think she has given up and is going to look for another job.
NANAMIA Glad you have had such a good day motivation wise, i do love those days, i wish i was like it every day!!! I know your friend says she doesnt feel brave but you are exactly right it is her attitude that makes her brave, i hope OMO and family are ok x
