Well I've just had to part with £89 ,oh somehome managed to lose his glasses while walking the dog yesterday and as he needs them to drive we had no option but to buy new,we went to vision express and I have to say they were great new pair of specs in 30 mins plus nectar points!

I desp need a spare pair of glasses, so knowing that they have a fast turn around, I'll give them a looksie!
  • Hello everyone. I've been reading the other thread for a while now, as I love Christmas, but always just lurked. I've just signed up to join in this thread. Got some bargains in the Boots sale yesterday, which I'm putting away for people for later in the year, and I have already put away £60 into my Christmas savings and £20 onto Asda savings card. Looking forward to getting to know people properly now that I've signed up.
  • Just not been motivated today. Onesie arrived for DS next christmas and still tempted to order some folding bikes so that will be main pressies out the way. Then i can concentrate on saving and slimming! That's the theory anyway. Not sure how healthy my parents will be next christmas so thinking of making them a rug or blankets during the year. Shall give it some thought. As for the sales, 'twas a tad naughty and treated myself to some knickers from boux avenue. Something to reward myself if I manage to lose some weight.
Now I need to de-clutter this place and make it look somewhat habitable.

Our fitbits are wrapped for a little new year gifts, one each for myself and DS. New year eve we are going to have a treat of a cooked chicken from the supermarket to make sandwiches (a last supper) before our healthy new year. I will then give DS his fitbit so we can start together New Year's Day. I'm looking forward to this more than christmas :D
  • I am going to come out of lurking, I have been doing it for far too long now. I have followed alot of this thread and just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has posted and saved me money over the last couple of years. :T:T

I look forward to keeping up with this thread and saving even more money in 2013 :D

Welcome Mrs Fish!! I'm a very new poster to this thread myself, but I can say, with hand on heart; that I've been made to feel most welcome. Everyone is lovely, and have some fabulously inspiring ideas!!

I'm curious to know about the Asda savings card. Does it work like the one Tesco does, or do you load it up like the Sainsburys one?

I don't think the weather helps with motivation Pinky. It's been bucketing down here all day. I had planned on going out and having a mooch again today, but the weather was just too awful. What are these Fitbits? Are they like a pedometer? I could do with something like that myself.

It's like a little credit card sized card, that you can add any amount to. You swipe it at the till and hand over the money to the checkout assistant. I'm saving £20 a month on it, but then I usually round up my shopping total and put that on, too. It stays in my purse, so I can add whatever to it. In November (I think), Asda give you a bonus amount, so if you've saved £144, they give you £6, to make a full card of £150.

I've saved money on this for a couple of years, now, and find it really helps me to budget throughout the year, rather than having to fork out all in one go.

Yes they are pedometer but with added extras and goals. I'm sure someone will explain more as I've not used it yet.

You are right about the weather etc, I had so much planned today and done virtually nothing. Actually it's very odd, I came over quite ill just now, still shakey and feel like I'm having a cold sweat. Asked DS for a cup of coffee and his wise words at 15 was "menopause". Omg I do hope not !!!
