CHRISSYG thank you for highlighting the troll, now added to my ignore list. I'm thankful for the support and advice I've received from the MSE community, without you all dh and I would be in so much debt. It's easy to get downhearted when money is short, but I know that I can always find help here, and I always get a positive feeling when I visit MSE forums. Thanks again everyone for all the help and support we've received over the years. Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year!

I did report it straight away but looking at other posts it seems a habit this person has ,a bit of a personality flaw

She has definitely been thrown off. Can't see any of her posts now. Just showing 'no match'.
  • Yey I finally get to go to sales today. Been sitting in work the last 2 days hoping that there's still wrapping paper and tags left. Is that sad? :rotfl:
Bought some bargain party bag fillers yesterday on dotcomgiftshop for dd's 3rd bday in Feb and they also had umbrellas for £1.29 (reduced from around £12!) So snatched up a couple for the bdays I have in Jan.
I'm planning on doing a One Direction hamper for my friend's daughter. Her bday is 19th Jan so if any of you lovely ladies see any related bargains over the next couple of weeks please let me know. Thank you. :)
I'll pop back on later and let you know if I found any bargains in the shops.

Poundworld have loads of 1D goodies. There is a calendar, diary with lock and pen, poster, ballpoint pens on a carded blister pack, pads, stickers........ I can't remember what else.

You could also print off pictures from the Internet, maybe stick one to card and make it into a jigsaw, depending on the age of your friend's daughter. The pictures could be assembled into a display book, perhaps with some printed information about the group and each individual member.

I'm sure I have seen a mug somewhere as well, but I'm not sure where. Then there are CDs of course, if she has a CD player. There might be magazines about at this time of year too.

    :rotfl:
the attic is a proper room all boarded out. He was in it until a few months ago when we were given bunk beds. Unfortunatly he could reach the ceiling lights and I was worried (at 3yrs old) of electric shocks. He's perfectly safe in a top bunk etc (before anyone says he shouldn't be in a high bed before 6yrs old :D)

so moved him and DS2 (1yr old) into the smaller room downstairs and turned attic into a playroom and sold the single beds.

Now DS2 is in naughty no sleeping/ climbing to top bunk/ waking his brother up mode (which we have been working on by not allowing DS1 to bed until he was asleep.....unfortunatly this is going to about 8.30/ 9pm so far too late).
They also needed new wardrobe/ drawers etc as their clothes stash was outgrowing the space.
DS1 needed a new mattress as the one we were given with the beds was too short (width ways) for the frame but we have been trying to save the ££'s as we have managed to make it fit with a foam mattress topper down the edge).

So £270 later DS1 has had a mid sleeper bed and mattress ordered with storage in it. and can go back in the attic room (shorter then bunks so no danger of messing with the lights). He is so looking forward to this we have already had to move the mattress off the bunk bed upstairs so he can sleep there until his new bed gets delivered.

we're also hoping to upgrade our phones in new year and get a free TV with one of those from a certain cp w/house which means our old TV can go one the wall up there for him (he loves watching TV curled up in bed till he falls asleep but we had to take it out of their shared room as DS2 couldn't be trusted with it).

right dinner then sort out time..... storage back down to the newly tidied cellar.

Yup! Card factory yesterday was a true bargain - Got 6 rolls of wrap for 50p!!!!
It was 6 for a £1 on wrapping in the card factory by mine.... still cheap though as we had to buy more this year at the last moment £2 a roll for the supermaket. got plenty for next year though.

Originally the signs up in the shop said 6 rolls for £1 but when I was in the queue I heard the cashier say to a customer "its now 6 rolls for 50p" I had to pick my jaw off the floor, its a shame I had decided to walk into town otherwise I would of got another 6 for my mum but as it was with the cards and rolls already my arms were killing lol. I had to tell the lady behind me and her daughter near tripped over herself to go get some lol. As someone correctly said shopping in the sales is the only affordable way to do christmas these days as she refuses to pay full price for something she will get for pence literally 24 hours later and I do agree which is why I have an underbed storage box FILLED with stuff lol

Linky, if only you lived close to me, I'd do your wrapping for you. I love it. I have boxes and boxes of ribbons and bows, and a copious supply of wrapping paper. I also keep a supply of empty boxes, which I use for squishy gifts, clothes etc. For me, that's half the fun. The wrapped parcel is the first thing you see. If I get a gift that's got beautiful wrap on it, it can take me ages to open it. I reckon I spend about 10 mins on each gift I wrap. The bows and ribbons either have to contrast or co-ordinate with it. I love it doing it.

I can spend a whole day wrapping gifts, Christmas films, and a supply of tea and biccies and that's me sorted for the day.

    *Or maybe I'm just a bit sad.:rotfl:*

Nanamia, sorry to see that Sil wasn't too good when you saw her today. Really hope she's feeling better soon chick. xx

I love wrapping presents too, I make it a real "night in" around christmas put on the likes of love actually, mug of baileys hot chocolate and wrap like mad only havent had the need to do much wrapping this year with doing hampers!

I thought the same too about the wraps and cards lol :rotfl:

Well was back to work yesterday seemed silly to be in for one day but got plenty done and dreading next week because I know we will be snowed under trying to catch up from the 3 days we had off over christmas! Did a walk around the centre yesterday on lunch hoping to pick up a cheap turkey (great meat for those on diets) but even though iceland had a sign on their window saying £2 off turkeys and turkey crowns when I got to the till it was still full price, I did question it and pointed out their window sign but the girl just shrugged and said the only thing reduced so far was some cupcakes :naughty::naughty:

I did pick up some really good bargains in tescos lastnight though and love going in on Fridays after work. Striaght to the reduced isle and picked up so much! (made bf check everything was freezable first lol) I was so chuffed Ive started up a general "shopping savings" spreadsheet and the idea being whatever we saved on a typical shop we are going to add to a seperate savings account which we will build up over the year. So far this week on reductions alone for groceries we saved £35.23!! Our freezer is now full to bursting as is the fridge and the dry food cupboard needs a good clearout!

Today I have to get stuck into our new year clearout, normally I would take the tree down at the same time but its so cosy at night Im going to leave it up until new years. It truly has been our best christmas so far and so Im a little sad to see it go but at least now we can focus on our big holiday plans for September (which we have also pretty much paid off but money sitting in savings to build interest until the balance needs to be paid in May)

Just saw on an advert that musicmagpie now sell clothes so going to try and see what I would get for the stuff I already have in black bags, if its not worth my while then theres a "cash4clothes" shop local to me who pay 60p per kilo so thats the last option. Anyway happy cleaning / shopping / weekend to you all :D
Life is what you make it.
