Hi all, I haven't been on for a few days as I was away over the weekend, then I was going to come on yesterday but got told at work that I am being made redundant in June so lost my mojo.
It's such a strange time, we are looking forward to getting married next week but we're now starting our married life with a huge HMRC bill and i'm being made redundant.
Anyway I made a few notes yesterday:
OMO thanks for your support and ideas for my cake dilemna! Wishing you lots of luck with your family tree. My dad traced our family tree back to a King - I don't know where it all went wrong!! I certainly don't live in a castle or palace!
Nanamia - thanks for the pics of the cakes and cupcakes, this is definitely what i'm going to do now! I love seeing the pics of your cakes, I think you should always post one when you do one! And i'm also really pleased to hear the reports on your SiL, you sound like you have a very special relationship and i'm glad things are getting back on track.
Fiesty - I am so sorry to hear about what you're going through, it seems that greed does such strange things to people. I can only assume it is greed rather than the principal, if there was no money involved I am sure they would be happy to let you and your cousin take care of everything. I'm wishing you strength to get through it and hope you get all the answers you need to help your case.
Betsie2010 - I hope everything goes ok with the mediator and that it doesn't cause you too much stress.0 -
Well, my practice cake did not go to plan at the weekend, BUT I will not be defeated!! I am not stressed about it like I was last week and i'm determined to get it right. It didn't rise as much as I needed it to, so i'm going to tweak the ingredients and practice it again tomorrow. Fingers crossed it goes as planned and I can post a pic on here for you all to see.0

I know exactly what you mean, i'm enjoying the drama and suspense - the whodunnit? and the intricate plot, but what it's actually about is very sad.0 -

I need to disect every part of my day into managable chunks sometimes. My doctors are the same, you have to call at 8.30am for an appointment and its constantly engaged and when you do get through they're usually gone! Fantastic news about the IVA. x
OMO-Great news about your family tree, hope there is a breakthrough! x
princesskitty-Sorry to hear your redundancy news, not what you need right now.Im sure you will find another super duper better job so try not to worry too much (hard I know) and enjoy your wedding next week. xx

Sadly I have had an email saying my Gt Aunt died a few years ago, and they no longer have contact with her son.
I have also traced my tree back to King William the Conquer.
My parents also come from the same family, back in the 1600's, through a brother and sister.
I also have a Mayor of London in the 1700's.
I found my Dads Dads family quite easy. They came from a small village in Suffolk and stayed there for generations.(1500's - late 1800's). I expect the line is still there today. It did get a little confusing when cousins starting marrying, but if you are related to the whole village, you don't have much choice do you.:rotfl:0 -
Thank you for all you kind thoughts, sadly the meeting was as horrendous as I anticipated it being. Ex was told to stop being so aggressive and to calm his language, some hope of mediating.
Have to decide whether to continue to try to mediate or just forget it. Tbh I find it all so stressful and with my best friends Dad so ill, a little out of place, if that makes sense.
Anyway I'll be back on later to catch up on all your news

Sleep on it and see how you feel in the morning, I know it's tough but you will make the right decision.
My cousins husband has managed to find all but £500 of the moneySpread over 13 months £500 is so little the solicitor has said it wont even flag - thank goodness! Just wondering what will go wrong now

On average there was about £300 a month being withdrawn in cash a month since my cousin took over finances. She has always looked after Nan and withdrawn money for her when requested, so she didn't really think through having to keep records. Now they are being legally requested they look a messIt will be for things such as hair dressers, money for visits out, paper bills, adult pads (£75 an order!) etc but trying to prove it is going to be impossible.
Feisty - could you use old bank statements to show that the pattern of withdrawals is similar to what it was before your aunt went into the home? What I mean is that they'll presumably be looking to say that your cousin has taken more money out since your aunt hasn't been in her own house and able to keep an eye on things so if you could show it's broadly similar that would make it less likely that there's anything untoward going on.It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0
