    Xmas Saver!
Thanks Nanamia that is so very kind of you and boy do I wish I was getting married near you! I'm getting married in Stroud in Gloucestershire which is where i'm originally from, I live in Buckinghamshire now. That was so sweet of you to offer that and just that offer, even though you aren't near me to actually help, has really cheered me up! I think my biggest problem is my confidence. I'm not very creative, and I have had so many occasions where I have something great in my mind that I want to make but when i've actually made it it's looked rubbish! But I do feel better after having chatted with you guys, these are secondary things and it's important that my OH and I just enjoy the day and not worry about these things. We were saying to each other last night after receiving the huge tax bill that it's only money (!) and at least nobody is ill, that would be far worse. x

It may not be your taste, but I have seen these in store and they look more expensive than they are.

When my friend got married, we got the bridesmaids flowers in the range. I can not for the live of me remember the name for them, but they are the things you hang in wardrobes to make them smell nice. The ones we got were a ball of red roses on a wide ribbon, and they were only about £5 each. Nobody believed where we got them from.

Forgot to mention what I actually came on for.:rotfl:

I am a bit of a theatre freak, I just love plays.

So I just looked into going to the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre to see 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. This is one of my favourite books, and one that dd recently read at school.

Now, you are sitting on wooden benches in a park at night, with nothing to protect you from the elements and they want £51 a ticket.

That's the same price as cheap seats at The Lion King  That's £25 a ticket more than I paid for 'Les Mis'

I think it is so unfair that these things are so expensive. Seeing a play like that is culture, and I can't afford it. Why should only well off people be able to experience things like this.:(
I honestly (or stupidly) thought a play in a park would be priced so everyone could see it.

  • Congratulations Caitlyn22, have a fantastic wedding and wish you and Mr Caitlyn22 a long & happy marriage.

NanaMia- you're so generous by offering to do PrincessKittys cake! Lovely and so thoughtful.

PrincessKitty - don't put yourself down! I'm sure you're going to make an amazing cake. Trust yourself ;) if all else fails, make cupcakes ;)

Noodles: your WI sounds amazing! I wanted to join one for ages but don't think there's a youngish one anywhere near me :( I might have to ring around and make some enquiries tho. I don't wanna sound rude but I don't want to go to an old biddies one, lol. Nothing wrong with elderly ladies but as much as I like jam/chutney making and gardening, there's only so much of that you can do/talk about. Hope I didn't offend anyone....

It won't help with the open air theatre but if your DD is between 16 and 25 she can get an entry pass for the National Theatre. They sell tickets for £5 to entry pass members. If there was something on there that interested you, it would get one of you in cheap at least.

  • noodles86-So lovely to see you on here. Your WI sounds great! :)

caitlyn22-Have a wonderful wedding day! xxx

OMO-It really annoys me that the theatre costs so much! Hope you feel better soon. xxx

Nanamia-You are such a kind, lovely person to offer to help with the cake but that is no surprise. :) Well done on your weight loss! Your DSIL has made such amazing progress, its so lovely to read. The Pot Noodle cake is amazing! I have tried to make cakes before but I just cant get the hang of the icing!
I know Im being terrible still not going to the doctors, have even been putting off the dentists even though I feel like Im going a bit demented with the pain!! I will try tomorrow, silly how its so hard for me just to make an appointment!

Trendyjenny-Hope you feel better soon, the sun will come out one day I promise. xx

princesskitty- Im sure your wedding will be wonderful. The cake and flowers will turn out great Im sure, I always worry about things Ive done myself but they always turn out ok and I worried over nothing! xx

riskyb-I think your competition would be vey popular if the prize was a kitchenaid, I know lots of people lust after them lol! Me included! :)

dropsofjupiter-Congratulations on the new house! Very exciting. x

Opee-Hope baby has made an appearance. :)

Hanley-The invitations look fab, you are talented!

Thankyou all so much for the birthday wishes! :) Started off a bit iffy as OH was being his usual sunny self *sigh* but then I had a lovely day. Met my sister and baby nephew in town and she bought me lunch then afterwards went to my mums. I felt very special and got some lovely, thoughtful presents. :)

Bought a few bits for Christmas the other day, spotted some bargains so had to grab them! B&M had big framed Twilight pictures for £3.99 which I thought was pretty good so got the last 2. (one of Jacob, one of Edward) They scanned at £1 each!! :D Also got a One Direction one for OHs niece which was £3.99. Then got a big leopard print foot warmer for my brothers girlfriends girls night in hamper for £4 from Primark.
Had to go to town today too as the Comic Relief theme at DS' school is Superheroes and he's going as Clark Kent. He lost his whole uniform at school today though (got dressed for the school disco at school) and was going to wear his school trousers as part of the outfit so needed to get trousers plus glasses. The black trousers scanned at £3 instead of £7 and also got OH some chinos reduced to £3. Found the perfect 'Clark Kent' glasses for £1 too! I need to go back to town tomorrow as the big blue remote control dalek Ive been keeping an eye on in B&M has been reduced from £29.99 to £9.99! :j So will go and get that for DS' birthday. :j
I do hope DS' uniform turns up tomorrow or Ill have to go to the uniform shop on Saturday and buy it all again grr!

You are a kind bunch, I know full well any one of you would offer to lend a hand if you could :)
Linky I so agree the theatre is so expensive, such a shame that the cost rules out such a large proportion of people (me included) Hope you are feeling a little brighter. xxx
Feisty, you are very quiet!! You know it unnerves me :) xxx
Noodles they are such darlings at that age:) enjoy they grow so very fast. I'm loving the sound of your WI now I've heard properly about it, it sounds such fun and such a variety of interests, keep us posted on what you get up too.
    Craftymummy nobody is offended :)
Freespirit I thought something must be wrong, you poor thing. Sending big hugs xxx
Moneysavingmumofone I'm glad your birthday turned out well in the end. You deserve to have a good day and be spoilt rotten. You've done really well with your bargains :) I really hope DS uniform turns up, hopefully somebody will have lifted his bag by mistake! Otherwise aarrrghh replacements. The superhero theme sounds brill, my local primary are "own clothes day to include a red item" nowhere near as exciting.
What are we to do with you? I fully understand the difficulties truly I do but we can't have you poorly and in pain. On a selfish level we need you. Nagging will commence tomorrow !!!!
And keep posting I've missed you xxx

Trendy don't worry reply if and when you can :) We are all thinking of you and willing you positive vibes. We are here for you xxx

Ten minute decoration, the base cakes are M&S. it is a long story but a friend of a friend had promised to make the wedding cakes for her friend-she ran out of time - came to ask if I could whip one up. Sadly fruit cakes I make three months in advance not the three days she had. She bought the M&S ones and I put some ribbon around and a few flowers on. She went on to pass it off as her own creation made by her own fair hands ! Ha
