OMO - Really sorry to hear you've been so poorly, it's rubbish feeling so crappy as you lose motivation to do anything! Hope you can sort the doctor situation out and get some advice you can rely on.
Nanamia - Unfortunately my PC won't show me the picture of the cake you made - gutted as from everyone's comments it sounds amazing!
I have taken today off work. I now have sores up my nose and all round my mouth. I look a complete mess.
I have copied Nanamias picture. Hopefully you will be able to view it now.0 -

Noodles - Welcome back and I hope you're still having lots of fun and quality time with your little one! It has crossed my mind on occasion to look into the WI but not really sure what it's about or if it's really me...
Thank you, yep, just discovered the joys of rolling (my eldest never rolled!) the positions she can now get into when she is in her cot! All fun & games!
Our WI is very newly set up by a young lady who has three young children (think they were all under 5). I quite like being a mix of old & young people (I'm 26) I more look at it as social with looking or trying something new! They do try to encourage their Denman college (though when they kept going on about Denman I was like isn't that a hairbrush!?) apparently Denman college is a WI owned mansion where they run courses, they aren't cheap but they are 5* luxury - apparently - I've got no chance, I couldnt justify spending that sort of money on me!
We meet monthly and this is what has and will be happening;
5th March- WE have a lovely lady called Debbie coming over to do a demo on holistic health she will be talking about lots of different aspects of holistic health along with lots of fab demos on lucky attendees including Indian head massage and crystal therapy.
This was amazing for me, I've done beauty therapy and hoping to get more into holistics when Mali is older, this really helped me to realise YES this is what I do want to do. Some of the ladies were sceptical about the crystal therapy but I was hanging off her every word.
2nd April- Beaded Jewellery demonstration. WE have a lady called Louisa coming to show us how to make our own jewellery from beautiful beads and for anyone inspired he will be bringing some kits that will be available to purchase on the day.
7th May- Definetly not a traditional WI meeting! We will be having a go at a tai chi night. Ever fancied trying a new exercise but weren't sure where to begin well have a laugh and give this a go at this evening meeting.
4th June- Bunting making- Bring your creative head and any fabric scraps or embellishments you may have as we make some bunting for the group that we can display at the carnival stall!
2nd July- We're going old skool!!! We have a jam making demonstration this evening! Also to stick with the theme there will be scones and clotted cream( probably no Jerusalem singing though)Also weather dependent I'm hoping to organise a group/family picnic at a local 'pick your own ' fruit farm the weekend before so well all be able to make the jam when we get home.
6th August- Book worms night- A night for all the readers out there. WEell be bringing our fave books in for a book swap and may organise a book group for the night. Plus we have a lady called Leanne popping in to tell us how we can encourage the children in our lives to love reading too with Usborne childrens books.
3rd September-Chocolate tasting night. A treat of a night as we discover the wonderful world of choccy tasting- Apparently there is a proper way to eat it! So pop along to learn the art-plus eat lots of chocolate.
And they're open to suggestion for meetings. I really like it, I found theyw ere an open, honest bunch of ladies who like a laugh too. Oh and Nanamia, I havnt seen any domestic goddesses - yet! xxxSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -

I'm getting married in Stroud in Gloucestershire which is where i'm originally from, I live in Buckinghamshire now. That was so sweet of you to offer that and just that offer, even though you aren't near me to actually help, has really cheered me up! I think my biggest problem is my confidence. I'm not very creative, and I have had so many occasions where I have something great in my mind that I want to make but when i've actually made it it's looked rubbish! But I do feel better after having chatted with you guys, these are secondary things and it's important that my OH and I just enjoy the day and not worry about these things. We were saying to each other last night after receiving the huge tax bill that it's only money (!) and at least nobody is ill, that would be far worse. x
My mum used to work in Stroud. I have family living there and will going to visit them in a few weeks. It's a lovely part of the country-I got married in Hatherley Manor in Gloucestershire.
My cake was made by my Grandma, but she wasn't confident enough to ice it (made cakes every Christmas, but made the icing look like snow, so not smooth) so I had someone else do that bit. Really don't worry about it, though. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you and husband to be are happy. I had a few silly little things go wrong close to the day (guest pulled out last minute, one bridesmaid had nits, they played the wrong song as I walked up the aisle...) but I just shrugged it off and got on with things. Don't get stressed out about every little detail. Enjoy your wedding day!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Aaw Princesskitty I've just googled and it's 140 miles each way! Might be pushing my luck with DH (my driver) I am certain that your creations won't have looked rubbish! I bet you are super critical cos you've made them yourself. I've got to dash out now but will get my thinking cap on and be back

It's such a shame cos I'd have lovvvvved to helpxxx
Thatnk you Nanamia you really are lovely! It's so nice that you are willing to do that! I wonder if it's too late to move my wedding to Manchester.....? :rotfl:Ruth_honey wrote: »My mum used to work in Stroud. You are right, the small things don't really matter, it only matters that we end the day married! I've been really pleased with myself up until now that I haven't got hung up on anything, i'm not that picky and as I said I didn't want everything to be too perfect and stuffy, but I think as it draws closer and I have given myself the responsibility of the cake and flowers i'm just starting to panic!
Wow Hatherley Manor looks lovely! What a nice venue. I'm getting married in a church then my reception is at the Kingscote Barn near Tetbury:

OMO glad you're resting, it is obviously what you need. Just take good care of yourself, it must be your body's way of saying it needs a little rest and TLC. Thanks for posting the cake pic again but unfortunately it still wouldn't show up. I logged on on my phone (I don't normally do this as it doesn't always work!) but I managed to get the pic up. Wonderful cake Nanamia! You are so clever and creative to do something like that - I can only dream of it! I wouldn't know where to start!!
Noodles - thanks for all of that WI info, there's quite a few bits in there i'm interested in! Like you, i've considered it for social reasons. We've moved a couple of times in the last few years and it would be great to get to know some people in my area. I'm definitely going to look into it now thanks very much! Also, that little pic you've posted is so cute! What a lovely baby.
Trendyjenny - so sorry to hear you're going through a difficult time at the moment, please keep posting on here though as hopefully we can help you through a little bit.0 -

It looks gorgeous! I might have even looked at it as a possible venue when I was planning our wedding. It was back in 2002, so can't remember all the places we considered. I know the tunnel house (between Stroud & cirencester) was one place I liked, but the rules about licensing venues was different back then, and I wanted the ceremony and reception to be in the same place. Tunnel house is a great pub, though if you want somewhere to chill out while you're in Stroud area.
It might not be your thing, but I had silk flowers for me and the bridesmaids. Their dresses were burgundy, so I had long stemmed gold roses for them, and a mix of burgundy and gold for me. Bought them in debenhams, tied them with silver and gold ribbon and that was all I needed to worry about. The venue had flowers for the ceremony. Can't even remember what they were or if we had any say in that or not. Also bought a separate bouquet of silk flowers for throwing as I wanted to keep mine. Still got them, although they're not in a vase...tut tut, I know...lol!
Some florists can do bouquets of silk flowers that look amazing. I did find a thread about that a few days ago on here. Might be worth looking into?
I think if I was getting married now, I'd quite like a mountain of cupcakes instead of a 'proper' cake!As you're getting married the Easter weekend, you could have a giant Lindt Lindor bunny! :rotfl:
