OMO your London trip looks fantastic, it's making me want to go to London again. Especially as you reminded me I'm dying to do the Jack The Ripper Tour!

Didn't know there was a Platform 9 3/4 shop at King's Cross, shows how observant I am. Probably didn't notice because every time I go there now I am too busy being annoyed that when they redeveloped it they have put Platform 9 3/4 in the wrong place!

I wonder if you all can help me over the year? I can never think of anything to get my dad for presents, he has no hobbies or anything! All I can think of that he likes is food, treats, going for dinner, that sort of thing, but I don't really want to buy him food things because... well, er... to be honest he could stand to lose some weight and I'd rather he lost some than gained more. Any ideas?

If he has no hobbies, yet, and you think he needs to exercise more how about a couple of golf lessons? Most driving ranges and golf clubs have them, he may enjoy it and take it up as hobby?
    Or a theatre trip?
For the past couple of years we have bought my parents trips or outings so they have something to look forward to. I managed to get the Kew Gardens tickets from this site for free.
For my Dads 70th we got all the grand children together for a photo (harder than you'd think seeing as they range in age from 1 to 23 and when one wasn't sleeping the others were !)

He hates golf, awkward git. Trips are a good idea, I'm already taking him and Mum out for dinner for their Christmas present. Struggling to think of trips and things we can go to when OH and I visit though, they live in the sort of area where people visit specifically to do not much at all!

I think he likes/liked music when he was about my age, but already has the entire catalogue of the bands I know he likes anyway. Concert tickets for those bands are only if I won the lottery prices. Just now I thought of maybe guitar lessons, might attempt very MSE roping in of my brother to just teach him!

Ooh hey, I might sound him out to see if he'd ever fancy going to anything like a cheap local gig or open mic night, then if so I can make vouchers for us to go when I'm there. Cheers, you inspired me!

I think I'm going to start an "ideas book" for gifts, then if I have an idea I can put it in there and if I get stuck for someone can check the book and see if I've had any ideas before or they've mentioned anything. Does anyone else do this, and what way do you do it?

Freespirit66 - argh! I meant b!tching! Not the thing with car parks! :rotfl:
  • Hi riskyb! :)

Pinksteps-I hope it goes well with your DS next week. I hope you enjoyed your cava. xxx

FeistyFidget-Slowly and steadily and it will get down. It must be emotionally draining for you, take time out for yourself. xx

Nanamia-We could never ever think you were rude! Just ease yourself back into day to day life gently, we will always be here. xxx
