OMO - your week in London sounds fantastic! I cannot understand how you're going to manage to fit it all in, but I'm sure you will. ;) we took DD to London for 3 days (spent a small fortune but didn't care) she loved it and wants to go back again. I'm hoping to take her again around Xmas to see the lights and watch a show. Better start saving now, I think.

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow and all the cars pass their MOTs.
  • Pinksteps - a second NYE sounds perfect!

OMO - your London trip sounds amazing, I would never think to do all those things whilst there! Have you thought about a visit to http://www.choccywoccydoodah.com/pages/london-shop, if just to look in the window? I *think* it's about a 10 minute walk from Fortnum and Mason but don't quote me on that!

    Xmas Saver!

    Ok Feisty Here goes

    Hotel £ 455
    Tube £ 63
    Trips £ 81
    Theatre £ 59
    Food £ 200

    Total £ 858

I am taking an extra £300 with me, but am not expecting to spend it all. I will just feel safer having it on me. It is only for miscellaneous stuff, like guild books and smoothies for dd and coffee for me. I will also get some bits to bring back for ds.

The hotel has a fridge, so I will take stuff with us to make up packed lunches, as buying lunch can easily add another £10 a day (if not more).

If you wanted to stay in a cheaper hotel, it is really not that expensive for a week in the capital.

I took me over a week of internet hunting to find all the offers and get trips in the right order, but I think the savings are worth it.

By getting our tube tickets at home on the Friday, we get access to the 241 offers. You don't get them if you buy your tickets at a tube station.

ETA - although it is not on our lists, because we have been there before, M&M World is fun.

  • Hello lovelies! Been missing you all, but have tried to catch up each night, even if it's just been reading about your ups, downs and inside-outs before I nod off in bed! Congratulations to IslandMum - wonderful news!

Welcome back Nanamia, know it must be so very tough for you but just come on here when you feel blue and we will do out very best to cheer you up! Looking forward to hearing all about your trip...and when you're planning the next one of course!

OMO, the London trip looks fab! I hate London because I travel there for work and it's always a nightmare but your list makes me think I should look at it differently! I bought OH the Zoo Keeper for a Day experience for his last birthday and he needs to do that so we agreed we'd spend a couple of days as I would love to fit a show in, ideally Les Mis! (I heard a brass band play a Les Mis medley the other day and it was incredible, total goosebumps!)

Feisty, know exactly how you feel, it's a horrible physical and mental trauma clearing someone's house. After doing OH's uncle's (my third house clearance after a tragedy) I decided I'm going to stop hoarding!

Pinksteps, so sorry to hear about your dad, you've been in my thoughts every day. I would most definitely be having that cava, you absolutely deserve it after the last couple of months!

Three weeks today and I'll be married! Everything sorted but now have 2 major birthdays in the next two weeks so spending every spare minute list-making and baking! Really stressed about leaving my mum for so long while I'm away. The carers assure me she'll be fine but I hate the thought of being away and not being there if she asks for me.

Had OH's sister's wedding at the weekend...what an eye-opener!! Think elements of big fat gypsy wedding complete with bickering and !!!!!ing!! In fact never mind eye-opening, some of the dresses were eye-watering!

Anyway, sorry to anyone I've missed or forgotten - hugs if you need them and pats on the back all round as personally I think we all deserve them!
  • Caitlynn, good luck with your wedding :) I know it's hard to mentally prepare yourself to leave your mum, but the carersvare right - she will be fine.

Omo thank you for the cost break down, something worth considering for the future ;)

Thank goodness it's Friday! I have a mini party on Saturday, first time DH had been in the thick of all. Y girly friends complete with booze. Really looking forward to it :)

Eeek how exciting! Mine is 5 weeks away and I'm feeling the stress a little bit at the moment! Its my hen do this weekend, I decided to be MSE so I'm having it at home and 10 friends are coming to me, but now I'm stressed about that as I now have to clean and tidy the house top to bottom and I'll feel responsible for making sure everyone's OK! Never mind can't change it now will just have to get on with it! Try not to worry too much about your mum, I know its easier said than done. She will be fine and she would want you to relax and enjoy yourself. xx

Thanks OMO for posting the link to the self guided Harry Potter tour, that is now on my list of things to do! :T
  • :j3 day week end. I've worked 3 weeks including week ends back to back so now I'm taking a day off! So why did I book a waxing appt for 9am? Loon:)
Going to do some tidying today then getting on with my quilting. Am making a very ambitious star quilt and I may be slightly out of my depth :rotfl::rotfl:
