Freespirit, I hope your poor daughter feels better soon :(

Pinksteps, I have often wondered the same myself! Have just looked on ebay and even the second hand ones (look as if they are possibly from the 80s) are quite expensive :( I guess if you could pick one up cheap (car boot sale possibly?) then it would be worth a try. If you really liked it then you could always upgrade to a better model ;)

I have inherited hundreds of knitting needles from my Nan. The executor of the estate told me I may as well take them whilst we were cleaning the house, Nan can't use them and I know she would be happy for me to have them. It's a little bitter-sweet, obviously I am over-joyed that I will never have to buy a pair ever again, but I'm also sad knowing that their my Nan's. I also have the case (one of many) that she has kept them in for as long as I can remember. It's basically a giant pencil case but has a line of sheep with red knitted bands on them - This holds such fond memories for me :)

Aw, lovely memories. My best friend at school and I have not seen each other for years and years but I often see her mum, well a few years back we were talking about knitting and she said she could no longer hold the needles. A few hours later she was at my door with a trolley full of patterns, needles and accessories. She said she saw more of me than her daughter and enjoyed our chats so gave me the lot. Some are beautiful and old, to precious to use.
Back to the machines, I see there are knitting mills, I may have to stray to another thread to ask opinions. It's a quicker way to knit up patchwork I guess. Some serious thought needs to be done lol
  • Hope your daughter is ok freespirit and gets better soon:)

freespirit-I hope your daughter feels much better soon, doesnt sound very nice at all. x

Island_Mum-Thought of a few more websites that are good for party bag fillers, prizes for games etc. :)http://www.craftycrocodiles.co.uk/
    http://mummymartinstoybox.co.uk/

Even though DS is not technically having a party this year, (as he wanted to go on holiday instead we brought our usual family holiday forward and are staying in a cottage instead of a caraan) the family 'gathering' will basically have all the elements of a party. :o I cant help myself, I just love preparing kids parties! Im tempted to do candy cones as they look so pretty or/and a candy buffet. Im sure the adults will like it just as much as the children! :D Shouldnt cost too much either as lots of the sweets can be bought from Home Bargains. Im rather excited now. :j

Thanks for the above sites. Just sorted the party bags for DD's bday in Feb for next to nothing. :T
    Savings Account - £0.00 :(

    Weight Loss - 33lbs lost 9lbs to go :)

    Glad to help. :)

Have just made a start on Mothers Day presents, ordered my mum a Simple set from Tesco. Thanks to Cher-Ching on grabbit, half price beauty gifts at Tesco. http://www.tesco.com/direct/halfpricegiftsets.event?sssdmh=edc3.653400&sc_cmp=eml_DNL_12_46_4_BEAUTY

I must admit some still seem expensive as I know some of them were much cheaper earlier in 2012 as I ordered some then. Have just ordered the Simple set as at £2.35 it will make a nice extra gift and only pennies more than the moisturiser on its own. :) March/April is going to be expensive/busy here with Mothers Day, my birthday, Easter, my DS' and BILs birthday on same day, our holiday and 2 other birthdays!

After my craft supplies over-spilled my tiny cabinet, I decided to steal DHs game room (he wasn't using it) - in my defense, I have two businesses (with another on the way!) and as I work from home the majority of the time, the space was sorely needed.

Have you used the knitting machine? x

OMO I'm not sure if you still plan to not do craft shows this year, but if you do, then these would be perfect!
