It's carp to you and me, but then we already have alarms, and we sound fairly middle-class, so it's clearly not aimed at people like us.
pray tell how i have taken this out of context ? your words not mine, i have no idea what class has anything to do with itI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
You missed the point I made, that there is no need for thee and me to watch it, and yet the lack of any title meant I had to waste time watching it to find out it was not of interest to me. If only the OP had been more thoughtful.
Incidentally, I don't think ignorance of the dangers is class specific. And I'd say that a stove is quite a middle class must have accessory.
I'll admit to being slightly puzzled by the attitude displayed towards the OP on this forum, as those I normally visit seem generally quite tolerant of indiscretions and mistakes. (Not 'Debate House Prices' etc...obviously!:rotfl:)
I'm sure the dangers of CO aren't fully understood by people from all walks of society, but this vid didn't use a scattergun approach, which I found interesting. I can understand that you found it patronising, but I wouldn't agree that it was unsuited to its probable target audience.
As for stoves being a middle-class accessory, I can only say, 'Definitely not, where I live.'0 -

I wish you would just accept the simple point I made, that she might have labelled what the link was to. That's all.

I have a 32 year old CF wall mounted CHB. I dont have a CO alarm and i'm not planning on buying one.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

CF?
CHB = central heating boiler?
I'm not going to moralise, but I tend to think a CO alarm is worth having even with a regularly serviced boiler, just as it is worth having at least one smoke alarm. That is one aspect of 'regs' I agree with, even if regs do tend to be a money making exercise for Hetas, lawyers, electricians etc, rather than something of use to the consumer.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
#19 CF -conventional flue
CHB-central heating boiler
I do have fire alarms becuase they are useful and at least if it goes off you can look around and say,hey,look,smoke/fire.. But when a CO alarm goes off what do you do? Pay someone to come do an inspection and an atmospheric test? Appliances have never been safer and it is my personal opinion that there is far too much paranoia re CO in the home,the alarms are unreliable and people can sometimes use them as a substitute for not getting appliances maintained.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
