Boxing Day here is always planned as a quiet day for starting your new books in bed with copious amounts of tea. I'm reading 'The greatest Experiment Ever Performed on Women' and very interesting it is.

My kind of morning! :D DS1 gave me three books and I picked up 'Nanny Ogg's cookbook' first. A nice little read. DS2 has the Roald Dahl treasury. Pottering here today, too, although I'll take it easy after the last few manic days. Will see if the surgery is open tomorrow and ask for some antibios.
I love my Secret Santa - it's a little cuddly rat called Scraps :D
Off to see The Hobbit in a bit so have a great day all xx

Lovely present! Would you mind telling me what you think about the film? Have heard mixed comments so far.

    • Delegate pot washing/DW loading!
    • A quick S&S over the kitchen should see it looking fabulous again If you leave it by New year it will be a tip!! - Was a tip before Christmas and still is...
    • Wipe the table/table cloth
    • Put the best crockery/glasses away
Quick wipe over the hob should see it sparkling againDo your dailies
    • S&S toilets and sinks
    • Get somebody to hoover high traffic areas
    • Write a list of presents that need thank you notes
    • Phone somebody you forgot to send a card/present to or just to thank them for their gift
    • straighten cards
Only gentle pottering today, I think. I'm hoping to spend some time with my budget and my new calendar and diary.

    Happy birthday, Pigpen!

LW, what a lovely message on your card from MrLW.

We had a busy morning at church yesterday but then a restful day with a friend visiting us who also appreciated just sitting and doing very little. DH put on some DVDs of short b/w films made in the 1950s and 60s about transport - mostly about railways, which are his passion, but also some about historic places (using the train to get there!) and other projects (lorry drivers delivering materials high up a Scottish mountain to build a dam for a hydroelectric scheme). They are very gentle films, with a relatively slow pace, and bring back lots of memories: just what we needed to relax. We ate very well - the shoulder of venison was cooked in the SC to perfection with very little effort on my part - and this morning the last of the smoked salmon went on the scrambled eggs which DH cooked for me. How nice is that!

I have already hoovered downstairs and S&Sd the kitchen. Must go and get my shower (decadently late!!!) and pull the bed tidy, then I shall sit down with a cuppa and finish off the knitting for DGD1 while DH is painting the cow money bank for DGD2.

I would love to go out and sweep the leaves off he lawn while the sun is shining, but I think that will only make my cough worse...

Have a lovely day, everyone. (((Hugs))) to anyone who is feeling fragile.

DH is still in bed although he does seem to be awake now. I suppose I'd better get dressed and take the dog out of he doesn't move soon!

  • I didn''t get out of bed until gone 10! Given i'm normally out for a walk at 6am i'll take it as a sign that I need some rest!

Another quiet day here - DS is off to his g/f this afternoon so we'll eat at lunchtime and just relax with our books and DVDs....

Glad everyone seems to have had a good time!

    Morning all

Something must be in the air ionafan - OH has just sent me a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and a cup of tea upstairs with DS.

Had 2 very leisurely days at home doing very little. Christmas Dinner was done in a very relaxed manner and were too stuffed to wash the pots straight away however me and OH weren't tired at midnight, so washed all the pots then which meant we didn't have to face them this morning.

I'm still in bed just chilling, but I have an active brain which is raring to go and blitz the joint so after a quick shower, I think I'll put a white wash on (shower curtain, pillow and mattress protectors from all beds) and replace all bedding.

A friend is coming around with her 3 kids later, so whilst they play on all their electronic gadgets, me, her and OH are going to paint the kitchen ready for guests this weekend. Will also make some pastry and use up some sausagemeat for sausage rolls and chips tonight for an easy tea for 8 of us.

Right then, let's look at these lists and see what we can do:-

    TMD xx

    [STRIKE]S&S the bathroom/s and loo's[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Phone someone you 'forgot' to post a card/present to in time.. just so they know you've not forgotten them...[/STRIKE]
    Dust round the whole downstairs
[STRIKE]Have a crazy HHC decluttering downstairs
[/STRIKE][STRIKE]Vacuum through downstairs.. and the stairs![/STRIKE]
    Mop the kitchen floor!
Declutter your desk.. or anywhere else that has all your paperwork on.
[STRIKE]Toy boxes can be banished upstairs!
Tidy up coats and shoes and suchlike[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]S&S the bathroom[/STRIKE]
Quick whizz over the clutter and carpets..
[STRIKE]Slice off the remaining meat and either freeze or put in the fridge for tomorrow!
Save remaining cooked veg for stew! It can be frozen if you don't want to eat it in the next few days.. or sling it in the crock pot with the carcass for stock![/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Prepare any run and grab style food for Boxing day.. I know a lot of families have get togethers on the 26th.[/STRIKE]
Does the breadmaker need to be on for tomorrow?
[STRIKE]Start thinking of those resolutions you will be breaking by the middle of January! lol
Don't forget to feed the pets![/STRIKE]

    Wednesday - Boxing Day

    [STRIKE]Do your dailies
    S&S toilets and sinks
Get somebody to hoover high traffic areas[/STRIKE]
Write a list of presents that need thank you notes
    [STRIKE]Enjoy your gifts
Phone somebody you forgot to send a card/present to or just to thank them for their gift[/STRIKE]
Keep track of the food in fridge so nothing goes to waste, meal plan if required.

Tidying in progress, so far done, kitchen (DH), dining room stayed tidy as we put the table in the LR), our room (me), DS1 room (me as he is at work), DS3 room (him).

DS2 did brunch for himself and DS3, they are now tidying the LR

I've had my lunch, need to make some for DS1 and either I or DH will take it up to him at work.

Somebody needs to push the hoover through and then we should be done.
