I'm alone a Christmas!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas Boots.
It is easy to offer advice, but ultimately you are in the best position to make the choice.
I can suggest Twitter as been a quick way to interact with other people, perhaps with a view on Christmas Day tv programmes or anything really.
Even going for a walk unless you are remote, will lead to bumping into folk and they will very often wish you a Merry Christmas and might even get into conversation - which breaks up the day a wee bit.
Alternatively you may want to plan a treat or a day out for Boxing Day, I know of people who plan their next summer holiday.
As others say try and approach it as just another day.
I am 40 myself, and have a wife and three children; however I could easily be single given the changing society.
Very best wishes0 -
I have chosen to be alone this Christmas
It was never a big deal in my family, my parents prefer to celebrate the Solstice. So we had a big family celebration meal on Saturday, with my parents, brother (who lives away) and both grandmothers. And on Thursday my cousin and his wife are over from America and I'm cooking dinner for them and my parents. So it seemed silly to do it all over again on Tuesday too, just cos society implies we should!
I could volunteer for a charity, but I work for one - hands on youth worker, so kinda feel like I need a break from thinking of others.
I've been invited to a couple of friends for Xmas if I want, but I'm rather looking forward to spending the day in my pjs, eating what I want, watching tv and maybe going for a walk if the weather is good
So feel free to say hi to me on the day on here. Have a good day x* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

I've been thinking about this thread.
What do you see your ideal Christmas being? Over the years I've had all sorts big family ones, one's abroad, friend ones, just me and my son ones. I crave to have an alone one, to get up late, eat junk, watch carp and coccoon away and hibernate.
I guess whatever christmas anyone dreams of is someones elses idea of a bad christmas.
You say that you are rather insular generally. Does this suit you? I am pretty insular too. I sometimes wish I had more friends and social life but find it hard going and actually easier to retract sometimes. I have social contact through work, dog walking, allotment etc but tend to keep myself to myslef generally. However the payoff for this is sometimes finding yourself alone when it 'appears' that our more socialable counterparts are laughing and merry making in their thousands.
What would your ideal Christmas be like?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
My Landlady has left me a present and card to open. She also left me a big Santa Claus! Am currently trying to sit him at the dining room table but not only is he stuck to a ladder, he doesn't bend!!
I also spoke to my Dad just now. We don't see enough of eachother. He's been diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid for the third time. The conversation got heavy, ie we talked about it. We both said a lot, though it's Christmas and we won't be together we love eachother an awful lot.
I'm not religious but I do love it when I feel kindness and compassion and see it in others.
Ooh I think I need another cup of tea!!0 -

:rotfl::rotfl: Cat's can be very demanding!
I'm not in the UK, I moved to a "beautiful" part of Europe -that's partly why I feel so down - ie, if I don't feel happier here, there's no hope for me!!:eek:0 -
A night on the town for Christmas Eve, getting home at 3-4am will ensure that Christmas Day passes pretty quickly.
When i was younger, would usually entail being woken for Christmas Dinner after the Queens Speech..
Boxing Day...another night out..0 -
Loneliness is an awful thing at any time. Odd how it seems so much worse at Christmas isn't it? You can't beat bubble and squeak though.
Plenty of people will be on here to chat to you know, just come along.0 -

But I spent the best part of 15 years doing that. It was great fun but I'm not up for that anymore. I'm a lot quieter now:eek: I just don't know what to replace it with.0
