    Hi Pipkin

Thanks - that's what I thought. I just wondered because when I cook chicken the slow cooker is pretty much full with liquid once it is finished cooking - even though I don't add any liquid at all - but I wasn't sure if the brisket would produce as much liquid.

Having said that, I often cook the sausage casserole recipe by Catherine Atkinson, and the sausages just sit on top of everything else and don't even touch the small amount of stock in the bottom. Mmmmm, haven't made that for a while - must do this week :D

    Thanks :)

    Hi Amanda

Is the brisket covered with liquid? if not, do you turn it half way?

    thanks :)

    No and yes :rotfl: .

I usually have the liquid about half way up the meat (veggies under and around it) but that's because my family luuuurrrrrrrvvvvvve gravy so we like to have a nice pan full. I do turn the meat roughly half way through so both top and bottom are dipped.

When I drain the juice I put it in a saucepan, add a little Bisto powder (original not granules) made to a paste with some water and bring to the boil - lovely:D
  • Half a chicken for me, on its own. I've never tried it before so fingers crossed it tastes good!

400g pork stir fry cut (which I got whoopsied to half price ages ago), 1 chopped orange pepper, handful chopped Chantennay carrot (25p for the bag from £1), one onion chopped, tom puree, chicken stock, cooked for 6 hours on med, and just added 100g chopped pre fried mushrooms and cornflour to thicken a little, now sitting on med for another hour.
Yummy. Will have with a pack of flavoured cous cous I found lurking!
    Lovely ideas on here.

Well.... today's small rolled shoulder of lamb with veggies all done in the slo-cooker, went down a treat today (recipe posted further back in the thread). The meat was sooo tender and just fell apart. I 'm so glad because I haven't used the slo-cooker for ages. All the posts on here are so inspiring -I'm already planning what's going in tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone!
