  • Ooh Malzu where did you buy your lamb shanks??

Sarahsaver, did you actually do the baked spuds in the slow cooker? Dry and unwrapped?

This morning I have put the filling for shepherds pie in my slow cooker and will do the mash tonight.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Quorn mince bolognaise in mine today. Nice and easy and using up lots of oddments of veg and the last dregs of some wine. Should smell nice when I get in later today.

Spicy chickpea and root veg casserole in mine today - I bunged pre-roasted parsnips in with chickpeas, carrots, garlic, passata and chilli powder/cayenne pepper. Can't wait to get home tonight!

No idea what to give everyone tonight .... fish n chips? Out the freezer not the chippy ... chippy would cost at least £15!

Whilst I love my slow cooker, I'm getting a bit bored of cooking everything in passata. What is the best way to make a basic sauce to cook things in? - is it as simple as getting some good quality vegetable stock, onions and garlic and putting that in with the beans and veg etc along with some cornflour to thicken it up?

    All help gratefully received!

  • I'm sure all you clever people know already.....for those who don't....NEVER add lemon juice to a rice pud! I am assuming that is what I did wrong, as it came out all sort of 'separated' and yuck. Children not impressed with my first slow cooker attempt!
  • We have got lamb stew for tea - yumm!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
