I got two rather large cooking apples and peeled them, cored them and chopped them into big slices, threw some of a 500ml bottle of cider in the bottom of the slow cooker and them put the apples in, then I added lean pork steaks, and 1 chopped onion, some mushrooms, one leak and the rest of the bottle of cider, i also mixed in one vegtable stock cube.
Added seasoning once cooked, yummy. Although the house smelt of cider for a day or two. Would be interesting to see anyone elses take.
(by the way i dont know the capacity of my slow cooker, except i reckon it could feed 8 easily, the ingredients above about half filled mine)Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
I've got 2 lbs stewing steak in mine today. I added a good glug of red wine, 3 chopped carrots, 3 slices of chopped swede, 4 tablespoons of red lentils, 1 tablespoon black lentils, 1 tablespoon of barley, garlic, mixed herbs, black pepper and just enough water to cover. I am adding some dumplings later and making mashed potato.0

Also I don’t know if I could be bothered with the ginger and lemon grass as might never use them again!
That looks great. You could use dried lemon gass, and dried galangal (or ginger). I've bought them from Tescos, and they keep for ages.0 -

That looks delicious. I was going to do a pork joint tomorrow with some cider and apples, but am not sure now, as I think using pork steaks like yourself would be best.
Did the apples disintegrate much during cooking?0
