Im sure this has been asked before, but Im afraid Im simply CANT read through 163 odd pages!!
I like to use my slow cooker occasionally, but having 4 kids who are a bit of the " I dont like that" before they've even tasted it, variety, I dont use it as much as Id like!
What Id like to know is, can you do dumplings in the SC? If I do an oven cooked stew I normally put them in about 20 mins from the end, is it the same for a SC? And do I use the same recipe from dumplings?
Much obliged!
Mrs B xx
I always do stew and dumplings in the slow cooker. The only difference is they take twice as long to cook this way; so put them in for 40 minutes before the end, and they'll be cooked nicely.0 -

Hiya, I am a newbi to the slow cooker but have read on this thread you can put dumplins in 40 minutes to an hour before you are ready to eat.
I would turn the slow cooker back up to high as well.
I would just use the instructions you know to make them.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
Nearly always put dumplings in mine - (depending on size) 40-60mins before wanting to eat. Like you, Julie, I would turn it back up to high (if that can be done) for a few minutes before adding them, as the liquid needs to be bubbling for dumplings to really cook well.0

Chicken curry today!
With lentils and potatoes and tomatoes - yum! Forgot to add spinach but will do that when I get in and adjust the seasoning, which is probably better as it doesn't need long.
Will serve with a nann bread.0 -
:wave:Hiya Peeps!
Today I (will have in....when I can get myself moving!) the first Beef stew and dumplings since last winter/spring!
I bought some lovely stewing steak yesterday. I got 2 packets of whoopsied veg for 33p with carrotts leeks courgetes and broccoli in them. will add more carrots and broccoli and leek,. also few onions (which I LOVE) Will coat the steak in seasoned flour and brown off first so it makes the gravy a little thicker. and add beef stock with a squirt or 2 of Hendersons Relish ;)AND Woucestershire sauce;) Will pop dumplings on about an hour before serving and have with greens and Mash tooooooo! will have loads left.
I also have NO room in my freezer at the mo but hubby is a good one and says he will eat it tomorrow too in a big Yorkshire pud! Int he a darlin? he is all for the saving lark! really isn't fussy!:D:j Good job really.........;):o:o0
