I am besotted with my slow cooker! It was a tenner from Tesco's. Did the best roast chicken in it, just put an inch or so of water in with chicken and rested it on a bed of onions - melt in the mouth! My bean pot stew is good but yesterday I burnt the beans when I was fast boiling them cos I was on some website or other!!!!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

I've got some chicken stock bubbling away in mine now, made with the carcass from tonight's dinner. Will leave it on low overnight and turn it off before I go to work.0

Hello everyone,
I've had my slow cooker for about 2 years now and have only used it a handful of timesHave been reading this thread and like the idea of doing a gammon joint in it. How much liquid do you put in with it? Only ever really used it for stews before!
There are gammon recipes on this forum, in the complete slow cooker collection:

A repeat of last week's shepherds pie, fingers crossed.
Not sure whether to have mash again or saute 1cm cubes of potato instead? As they're in the steamer now I can decide later.0 -
Hi GinnyKnit, i've just got a s/c from tesco but there is only the one cooking setting it would seem, do you cook everything on this or do you use the other 2?
Its confusing as my RH has low, med and high and warm.0 -
VLT I have the same one and I cook everything on low. Thats mostly because I either do it over night when I am in bed and its ready by mornig or when I am out at work cos I leave the house at 7.30 and dont get back until 5.30-6pm. This seems to work fine - so far.........Emma
