I always use plain flour, just because its what I have. It thickens things up well. Just mix it with water as per Debtmonkeys post. I often sprinkle a bit of flour on to thicken at the beginning and mix it around, which works quite well (for me anyway).0

I use plain flour if i have no cornflour in, but prefer cornflour, its personal taste I think.
Some recipes I will remove the liquid and reduce down but most times I just use the cornflour and water tip.0 -
thank you everyone xx0

I would just add all my veg, (potatoes etc chop fairly small) then use a veg oxo cube instead of beef.
I would add some dried herbs and maybe a splash of white wine.0 -

I would add a tin of chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic, herbs, black pepper, seasalt, and some flour, or lentils to thicken. Worcester or Soy sauce is good to give flavour. I sometimes add a touch of paprika or cumin. I always use vegetable stock (Marigold or Knorr), unless I've got a chicken carcass handy. You can make soup out of anything in your cupboard. I made one using going over veg, onions, garlic, lentils, and spices:

Beef and veggies in mine today. The butcher didn’t have brisket but recommend a cut very similar to it, so giving that a go. Put it in with some stock and carrots, mushrooms, onion, courgette.0

Bought a litre of Channel Islands milk the other day to make a rice pudding, then found out I need 1.5 litres for my size of SC - but made it up with ordinary, so that's what's in mine today - lovely yellow skin on it alreadyPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
