I have just had a lovely gammon joint cooked for 9 hours in cola with an onion. Then ten minutes in the oven with a honey glaze. Will definately be doing that again.

We have liver and bacon pieces, with sliced onions and chopped tomatoes, and will thicken up later before serving with rice (or maybe couscous).

    Smells lovely!

I've asked this before and no-one has answered........My instruction leaflet says meat etc should never be placed in the slow cooker without liquid as it can damage the cooker, yet people seem to put meat in "dry" What's the general consensus on this?

I've not as yet cooked any meat without liquid but when I've cooked a whole chicken I've only added a quarter of a small mug of water to it, barely covering the bottom of the base and the chicken was lovely basically cooking in its own juices.

I'd follow your instructions but I wouldn't be too concerned if you forgot to add some liquid on the odd occasion especially if the joint was frozen and you're cooking it on low.

I've got a really old and small slow cooker that only has the one setting and I've been using this for over a decade and it's still in tip top shape.

I ended up having some of a chicken breast with roasted veg and couscous. Then I had a chicken sandwich for lunch today.

The carcass went back in the slow cooker last night and I have stock today! I will be making a pie with some of the remaining chicken and stock later.

I think i'll start clucking by Sunday.

Chicken Chasseur in mine today, and some liver bought whoopsie for tomorrow. Will serve the chicken with some small steamed potatoes in giant HM yorkshire puds. Delish!
