Morning!
I've got a joint of lamb in mine but I'm worried I'm being optimistic. I just put it in resting on some veg (seen the tip on here) with about an inch of hot stock on the bottom and set it on high.
Could anyone more experienced with SC tell me if this is likely to cook or should I have sealed the lamb first or put more stock in or something?
Thanks
I've done my leg of Lamb exactly like this before and it came out delicious! So moist & tender and falling off the bone... you're making me hungry! lol.pinkpinkfizz

Lamb is my favourite dish in the SC, closely followed by pork in bbq sauce with beans...YUM!
I have a MR 6.5l slow cooker and definately need that size for my tribe (DH, twin DSs aged 13, DD x2 and me)
I was wondering what to make for tea tonight but finding this thread has made up my mind....... sausage casserolein the SC of course.
I am planning to do a load of baking this afternoon so I can put on the SC and get on with baking, and tea will take care of itself.
Now where did my apron go......pinkpinkfizz

Hello all, could someone clear up the confusion regarding cooking a joint in the slow cooker, be it either gammon, beef etc, according to the manual I should cover the whole joint in water or stock, but reading on here most seem to lay them on a bed of veg and stock, whats is best? Dont want to do it and ruin a good joint of meat.

I'd love to know the answer VLT!
I'm thinking of getting a slow cooker and just wanted to ask...Do you have to brown stuff before putting it in the sc or can you just chuck things in and leave it?
Also how does it do rice?

YOu can do either to be honest. most of the time I try to brown everything but if I am in a hurry I just chuck it all in. Its fine either way,
I have used it to do the rice pudding recipe on the guide but not normal savoury rice, maybe someone else can advise ??0 -
I have a vegetable curry concoction going on in there today as had far too many potatoes and carrots that needed using.
I put it on high as didn't think to do it til midday, but will turn it down in a minute as can hear the lid bouncing around!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
