...they had loads on special.
I was prepared to spend the last £25 of my Christmas money today on one. (Yes, I really wanted money for a slow cooker for Christmas. And yes, it has taken me this long to go and buy one...:o)
Anyway - result! 1 ½ tenners saved
So, my question is this.
I really love beef stew. Please does anyone have a good recipe for a nice, old fashioned beef stew - done slow?
TIA.

I bought a slow cooker at Christmas and it's been one of my best buys (alongside my pressure cooker). I'm not the Worlds greatest cook but haven't had a single flop since started using SC. Doing Hungarian Goulash tomorrow and fingers crossed Mum and hubby like it.0

Well the beef stew worked a treat. I put a bit too much water in at the beginning, so I left the top off for the last hour. The meat was lovely.
Zippychick - once the top came off I couldn't resist it...
Kataratarina - yes, freezing will be fine. 2 1/2 hours at that temperature will have long killed any bugs that were there pre-cooking.
The only warning I have seen about slow cookers is that they shouldn't be used to covert the toxin in dried kidney beans. This needs a soak and then 10 mins fast boiling. Tinned are fine though as they have already been done.BSC No 248

I bought one of these yesterday. In the instructions it says to cook on high for 7-8 hours but lots of recipes I've browsed for say setting should be low - any advice from those who have one of this type please because I'm confused (doesn't take a lot...?)
Also can you cook pork tenderloin in it and if so would it be like a pot roast?
Thanks
Getting there...slowly!
GC : must do better
