Someone on this thread has tried coke (will have a scout for link) but the more traditional method would be either water or cider (or even apple juice). Shouldnt need salt cos gammon quite salty anyway.

Heres a couple of links (hope they work its a very long thread!)

It seems to be a nigella idea, so maybe a google of her recipes? Good luck lets know what you decide. :)
  • Pork spare rib chops in cider, with leeks, onions and carrots (and a parsnip).

Our new oven is being fitted on Monday - yippee!

Just put a piece of beef - toprump, which was being sold as 'Rump Steak' in Asda - hubby used to be a butcher ;). One potato, carrots, onions, leek, pearl barley and stock. Only just got my MR slow cooker from Asda - £25, so we'll see how it goes - it is HUGE, so think I'll be doing lots of batch cooking and freezing..........

  • Hi i have been watching all your posts for a while now so thought I would stop by and let you know what I am cooking.

Tonight I have got a carrot cake in my sc so fingers crossed that it will work!

Cooked a chicken in the sc and have managed to get eight main meals, a big pot of soup, two dinners for the dog and some fat balls for the birds so I am feeling very proud of myself :D

Cooked a gammon joint in it last weekend and was gutted when my flat mate threw out the water the meat had been cooking in. Had great plans for a big pot of lentil soup

This is the one I followed:

Mine is still in the sc so will have need to wait and see how it turns out. I have quite a big sc, so I doubled up the quantities.

Thank you! I love recipes where you just mix everything in together, so no rubbing in or creaming sounds just right to me! :D
