Tablet or Netbook

I currently have an old desk top, which is fine (touch wood), but Im looking for a second device to do a bit of "mobile" computing; mostly around the house.
Im not sure if Im better off with a netbook or a tablet device.
Essentially, I need to connect to the internet for browsing - about 80% of the use. I also need to listen to music (ideally watch movies both streamed and via CD), do some word processing and excel.
Which device would be more suitable? The netbook is coming in around £250 and the tablet device under £100.

No offense but a sub £100 tablet will be dire.
For tablets, the only real choice is the Nexus or the iPad.0 -

I wouldn't. £222 for a Netbook is too much.0 -

If you are happy enough with a 3 cell battery, then consider MSI Wind U180 @ £153.94. But I really don't see the point of buying a Netbook to use at home.0

Refurb means little in this case. It will be brand new. But the ACER is ok if the OP has £290 at hand.
Neither would be my first choice. My point was to illustrate that you could much more for £250 than a Netbook.0 -
Agreed, ultrabooks and netbooks are really only if you want the benefit of portability. The downsides (no optical drive, poor battery time, sub 13.1" screens etc) dont make sense if its for your main use at home.
He says whilst typing on a mac air ( my excuse is I need it for xcode development)0
