I am typing this on a dell netbook now it's running windows 7 starter with 1 meg of ram and runs ok.
I find it ok for browsing, watching youtube, looking at photos etc. I have Libre office on it and for the odd thing it is ok but slow and I've done the odd bit of photo editing. I certainly wouldn't want it as my only PC but it's great for lying on the sofa and browsing the net.
We have an ipad which has a better battery life but the netbook has a much bigger hdd and I can store some of my photos on it as well as my other pc and portable hdd (belts and braces)
No optical drive so no good for watching DVDs.

You can probably upgrade to 2GB RAM. Who watches DVDs these days anyway?DVD Video quality is just about right for a Netbook's screen resolution, so you can rip them and watch them there for travel.
For my laptop, I rip my Bluray discs to 720p or (800p)HD to fit with the screen resolution and to preserve space and for my home PC, 1080p(Full HD).0 -

I also have a Samsung NC10. I added 2GB of ram plus it runs Windows 7 and isn't slow. I only use it for when I'm out and about. For general use, I prefer my laptop.
Another vote here for Samsung NC110, it even has HDMI port to hook up the TV for playing movies“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
