    Are your kids going too?

Perhaps the person booking the meal should have known about it in advance, so that they could book to your kids preferences.

:D No, that's a little bit out of our price range!

And well yes, if it were my sister booking a meal for us all she would know in advance about my children's 'oddities' besides which she'd ask us ALL what we thought before she chose the 2 options, and my children wouldn't be the only ones who wanted fish.

Mind you I always say that as long as there's bread and water my children can manage any meal and smile politely. There are usually veg they can eat, and fruit for starter or dessert.

When eldest went on his first residential holiday with school (5 days) the school were aware of his food issues, and said there would always be bread and water available. Of course there was usually something else he'd eat but if there wasn't he wouldn't starve.

I make my kids sound 'fussy' but we don't pander to them, other than requesting no sauces. They won't like much of the christmas dinner tomorrow but as long as there's no gravy they can just eat which bits they like, and my husband and I will give them some of our veg if we don't think they've had enough to eat.

    You forgot:

OP thought the veggie option didn't look very nice so was having a moan that the organiser hadn't selected a fish dish instead of either the lamb or beef

TBH the veggie option rarely look nice.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Very few venues have much imagination when it comes to the vegetarian meal and it's often dry, over cooked rubbish.

I'm only like chicken so always look to see Veggie option and very rarely am I tempted!

No - it really does stink. It stinks before it's cooked and it stinks once it is cooked. And it is vile.

fish stinks when its completely fresh and being cleaned too - my OH likes grilled whole fish, he cleans/guts it himself before cooking it. It stinks! He has to completely clean the kitchen down and get rid of all the fish guts etc before I can go anywhere near it, the smell makes me want to vomit.

    I like cooked fish though.
  • I wouldn't say in a fussy eater, all i refuse to eat is chicken and fish.
It drives me bloody crazy when you look for a sandwich or a ready meal and its ALL chicken, seriously, 90% of them usually are!
Then, there are the idiots who proclaim themselves vegetarians but still eat chicken and fish
    .. What the hell?!?
