Coop ticket- 6 hours parking!!!!!!!????

Hi all,
I'm knew here.
Apologies in advance for the same old subject but I received a letter today (parking enforcement notification) from Civil enforcement Ltd of Liverpool stating the usual threats if not paid on time.
What has really cheesed me off is that they claim I was parked there from 11.52 to 17.05 !!! Over 5 hours.
I was there for max 20 mins and we are allowed 2 hours free parking.
They claim to have photo evidence but I probably returned about 5.00 to go the post office.Could they have deliberately used one entry and a different exit to claim I was there for 5 hours?
Just wondered if I should write to them and state this and maybe request info on the calibration of their camera equipment or should I ignore it all as is the general advice running through this forum?
Kind regards,
Kev

This is indeed a VERY common scam tactic used by PPCs with these cameras.

If this was in England/Wales then appeal it and then appeal to POPLA as this will cost the scammer money. No risk or cost to you.

Details on this thread on pepipoo, of where CE go wrong with various breaches of the BPA Code of Practice. Report them to the DVLA for their breaches and their scam use of a camera to produce a fake PCN for two visits in one day:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=73843

Definitely appeal and complain all over the place, you WILL NEVER have to pay this fake PCN but there are lots of complaints in about CE already and yours could be the one to break the camel's back with the BPA and DVLA!

The email addy of the DVLA is on that thread along with lots of info.

For a quiet life you can just ignore the whole thing if you have no time to make the complaints. No-one would judge you for that, it's just that these scammers are ripe for DVLA sanctions against them IMHO and your case is a clear scam. :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the replies everybody. I think I will write to DVLA about them to start with but I don't feel like writing to CE themselves to be honest,it feels like I am giving them a form of legitimacy they don't have or deserve.

Sounds like a good plan - and the DVLA email you send can be pretty much copied from that other thread, just change it a bit to make it specific to your case. :)

    Thanks Coupon-Mad.
I am unsure as to which thread the DVLA email is on.
I clicked on the peripoo link but that is not it.

    Any help is appreciated:)

I'd also complain to the Co-op, if I were you.
They should know that their customers are being scared off. That the PPC are effectively saying if you go to the Co-op in the morning and then find yuo need something else you should go to a different shop.
