Working for robinson way?

By the way, if we look at a scenario where, in litigation, SarEl is on one side advocating against another who is advocating as an opponent and the opponent is given judgment, then SarEl has lost.
To sum that up, SarEl, by definition, is not always right.
Maybe not, but then none of us are! My point was that as a legal professional, honesty has to be her first premise, and you are implying she isn't telling the truth!
I don't wish to get into a 'he said, she said' scenario here and I know she is more than capable of defending herself, but I would ask - why should she lie? What on earth would she hope to gain from it?0 -
Bloody hell....took til post 49 before I got the kind of answer I was looking for!
Thanks to everyone who replied, can we cut the British Gas debate here though please its going too far off my topic.
Thanks for those who understood what I meant when i referenced my size, I did not mean i was going to threaten anyone. As it happens I also do Krav Maga (although just one year of that compared to 12+ years of boxing), so yes we also get taught how not to get into situations.0 -
*Shuffles in sheepishly after the debacle last night*Hi,
I saw an ad for making money working for robinson way debt collectors....ironic given a need a second job cos i owe money to too many banks!
Has anyone worked for them before? Is the money ok, they say you get 20% but what does that really mean? Also is the work safe, now im a big lad and i box but still i dont fancy getting a kick in for a gew quid.
I know they are a horrible type or organisation to work for so plaese dont judge me, needs must and all that.
Any advice welcome
Bruceas I understand it these companies buy bad debts for pence in the pound, the employee is then collecting these debts on a commision basis.implied right of access
civil tort
with reference to the job advert, are they working direct for robbers way or on a self employed basis (commission)
what about data protection act issues and will the self employed collector need their own Consumer Credit licence due to the fact they cannot rely on robbers way implied licence.
what about people who are classed as vulnerable, and the legalities surrounding that area
Seems robbers way are reluctant to explain the finer details of the job description
keithrgj and Russe11 raise some relevant points -
1. Would you be classed as self employed?
2. Is is commission only?
3. What licences would you need to pursue this line of work?
SarEl has a point, it's not just about 'being handy' - one would need to have a grasp of some of the finer points of debt, civil and, uh, trespass laws.
If you were self employed and commission dependent (as your initial post seems to suggest) then you'd have to know about tax, National Insurance and whether there would be enough work to sustain you. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

No, I am implying that SarEl should explain herself better because there is no way debt collectors (I assume two) get arrested in the situation as described by her.
There must have been more to it, I'm amazed the cops even turned up!
And I'm equally surprised that two debt collectors visited for an original debt of £18!
The whole story is just strange.
And it wouldn't surprise me that a skilled advocate has stretched the truth somewhat!0
